July at the Village wasn’t packed with big events, but it was full of the good stuff — the kind of simple moments that make this place feel like home.

We handed out fudgesicles for World Chocolate Day, brought back karaoke nights for the Village Lightning Lager launch, reunited long-lost friends on Friendship Day, and kicked off our Jamboree pre-events with a seriously cheesy mac & cheese cook-off. Oh — and the kids soaked up summer with the best pool party ever!

It was a feel-good month through and through, and it’s all leading up to the big one: our 5th Annual Country Jamboree on August 27.

🧀✨AND WE’RE OFF!✨🧀
The 5th Annual Country Jamboree has officially kicked into gear with our very first pre-event — the one, the only… MAC & CHEESE COOK-OFF! 🎉

From bold spices to ooey-gooey classics, our chefs came ready to stir up some serious competition. The Gathering Room was filled with mouth-watering smells, full bellies, and a whole lotta cheese-fueled excitement.

👑 The People's Vote? The Housekeeping Trio! Proving once again that teamwork (and extra cheese) makes the dream work.

👨‍⚖️ Our official judge’s winner? Chirag Ghadge — taking home the title with flavour, flair, and a sprinkle of mystery.

👏 Big cheesy THANK YOU to our other amazing mac makers: Clair Michel, Cassidy Anderson, Aruna & Rashmi, and Skylar! You brought the heat and the heart. 💛

But wait... we're just getting warmed up. 🔥

🛑👢Next up: things are about to get a little bouncier, tug-ier, and maybe even involve a few wild gallops down the hall. 🥔🪢🐎

💛 Friendship is the thread that ties us together! 💛

Yesterday, we celebrated Friendship Day the best way we know how — with creativity, and a little bit of nostalgia. Residents, childcare, and staff spent the afternoon crafting colourful friendship bracelets to exchange with one another — a small symbol of connection that carries so much meaning.

And of course, no celebration is complete without a few Polaroid snapshots to capture the smiles, silly poses, and special moments shared among friends old and new. 📸✨

Among the many friendships we celebrated, one story in particular stood out. When Elaine recently moved into our community, we paired her up with Gladys to help her settle in. What we didn’t know at the time was that these two were actually long-lost friends — a joyful surprise that quickly turned a new beginning into a beautiful reunion. Seeing them reconnect reminded us that sometimes the most meaningful bonds find their way back when we least expect it.

At Harbour Landing Village, we believe that friendship knows no age — and that it's never too late to make a new friend (or rediscover an old one).

☀️ SPLISH, SPLASH, SUMMER FUN! 💦🍉🍋

Nothing says summertime like a good old-fashioned pool party — and our childcare crew made the most of it! The weather was perfect, the laughter was non-stop, and the lemonade and watermelon were flowing all afternoon.

From running through sprinklers to dipping their toes in the water, the kids had the best time soaking up the sun and making memories with their friends. It was the kind of day where shoes were optional, smiles were everywhere, and no one wanted it to end.

Here’s to more simple, joyful moments like these. 🌞

🎓 Throwback to this year’s Little Village Preschool Graduation!
From first hellos to final goodbyes, we watched our little learners grow in confidence, curiosity, and kindness. What a joy it was to celebrate their big step forward! ✨

The Trading Post Marketplace is back for the 5th Annual Village Country Jamboree on Wednesday, August 27, 2025—and we’ve got limited vendor spots available!

Special Tribute on a Special Day 💛

Last Friday, on Cher Hnatiuk’s 80th birthday, we proudly opened the Con Hnatiuk Memorial Parking Lot & Walking Path at Harbour Landing Village.

This project is more than just pavement and a path — it’s a heartfelt tribute to a man who brought wisdom, humour, and purpose to everything he did.

Con Hnatiuk was a trusted advisor and passionate public servant who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our leadership team during a pivotal time from 2017 to 2019. He helped guide us through the storm with clarity and compassion — and one very practical mantra we still laugh about today:
“Never build a great restaurant and forget the parking!”

Thanks to his voice and vision, we expanded our parking lot and added a beautiful new walking path connecting the rear lot to our main entrance — making things better for residents, families, staff, and visitors.

We were honoured to welcome Cher and the Hnatiuk family for the ribbon-cutting, making the day even more meaningful as we celebrated Cher’s milestone birthday surrounded by love, stories, and laughter.

A heartfelt thank-you to Myllis, Holly, Brad, Rey, and the entire team who brought this tribute to life.

It was a day of memories, legacy, and deep gratitude. 💛
