Although many people with broken hearts try to pretend that they are “over it”, the following are some of the tell-tale signs that they are grieving:

💔Being preoccupied with sad or painful memories
💔Refusing to talk about the loss at all
💔Increasing alcohol, food, drug, or cigarette usage
💔Antisocial behavior
💔Overindulging in hobbies, work, or exercise
💔Lacking energy
💔Difficulty concentrating
💔Isolating from friends and family

If left untreated, the long term effects of unresolved emotional pain can be devastating to current relationships, future relationships, and every day activities like work and hobbies you love.

Acting strong, pretending to be okay, or waiting for time to pass will never heal your heart. The Grief Recovery Method will… if you’re willing to do the work ❤️

Good reminders!

Good reminders!

These morning reminders have helped me so much lately.

We mistakenly think preparing for bed begins at night, but research has shown that the best way to get your brain and body ready for sleep is, and to get the best quality sleep, it begins on the morning the moment you wake up! That’s why a good morning routine is so important not just to help you have a good day, but also a good night.

Here are some more of my favorite morning rituals to help you start the day off right, and these are great for mental, physical, and brain health:

1. Do a fasted workout

2. Get morning sunlight preferably before 10am

3. Do your brain detox (see my app Switch for more details: https://theswitch.app)

4. Do a few minutes of Brain building: read some articles, listen to podcasts, engage in conversations, and really intentionally focus on the information to the point where you can re-teach it

5. Practice mindfulness through prayer or meditation

6. Hydrate your body! I love lemon water.

7. Get some stretching in

8. Set your intentions for the day and focus on the statements in the post, or think about what you are grateful for today

What do you like to do as part of your morning routine?

Enjoy the ride!

If you’re feeling resentment towards someone, something (a job, a project, a place) or yourself it may be time to evaluate your boundaries, lack of boundaries, and how well you are enforcing those boundaries. Listen to the resentment don’t ignore it. It may not be a “pretty” emotion or one you are proud to admit feeling but don’t suppress it. It is a signal that something needs to change. Acknowledge it, question it, and learn from it. For more tips I’ve done a few podcasts on setting boundaries: https://anchor.fm/cleaningupthementalmess

When I’m having an off day one thing I find helpful is to make sure to build something into my day I know is guaranteed to help boost my mood. For example, the other day I just felt blah.... I’m sure you can relate. The weather was blah, my mood was blah, work just made me want to cry.... so I made sure to plan something fun and happy. I love baking brownies and watching a cute show like Gilmore Girls so I made sure to include that in my day. It really helped! Just remember: you don’t have to “earn” a rest and fun moment. Listen to your emotional and physical warning signals and do more fun things!
