Failure hurts, but it is an inevitable part of the process when you choose to put yourself in the ring and give it your all.

It stings when you do everything right, check all the boxes, and don’t end up with the expected result.

In July of 2025 I made the decision to hire in order to take powerlifting more seriously. We had a great Provincials test meet in September and truthfully my training has been almost perfect the entire time. I hadn’t missed a single workout from July on and we continued to stack wins week after week despite the immense demands and pressure of my everyday life.

The goal was to win Nationals and qualify for Worlds later this year but all of that changed on my third squat last week. As I descended into the hole I felt a painful tearing sensation in my left leg leaving me unable to produce any force out of the bottom. I knew right away I was done for the meet.

It’s a weird thing to process when you reflect back on just how much effort and sacrifice it took to get to a certain point and then have it all feel pointless after one simple event.

I know I will come back from this stronger and I truly believe everything in life happens for a reason. After almost 20+ years of competing in bodybuilding and powerlifting, I’ve lived through the highs and the lows. I’ve lived through the wins and the losses. I don’t define myself or derive my self worth from a placing. I do this to challenge myself and push myself to be better each and everyday.

I’ve learned that improving in life doesn’t have to mean a higher PR total or a gold medal. Self improvement can come in many different forms and often times it involves taking a step back and realizing what is truly important. I am blessed with an amazing family, work I love, amazing friends and an incredible and supportive gym community. I am also blessed with the ability to get back on the horse and rebuild again in whichever direction I choose. What makes us truly happy is not winning or achieving but rather devoting ourselves to a process and goals we care about and I am excited to do that again.

I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has been in my corner throughout this. .tkatchuk my rock always, for his caring and understanding nature, the doctors and medical staff who quickly tended to me after the injury, our Trench family and the and community for the messages and support.

This is the end of my powerlifting journey as a competitor for now. It is time to focus on my family, our business and entrepreneurial ventures and simply training for the pure love and joy of it. I am excited to continue to coach our amazing athletes and grow our powerlifting community!

Bringing home the 🥇

Team Trench had a great showing at with both and bringing home the Gold in their respective classes and qualifying again for Worlds!

squatted another National record with 176.5kg and hit the 400+lb deadlift mark with 185kg on her last pull.
llogan also had a great day with a PR total and a huge 150kg final deadlift!

A special shoutout to for his huge PR total in the Open 105kg class of 785kg and for winning 🥇 in the 93kg Junior class while hitting an unofficial World record squat of 331.5kg.

Fantastic lifting by all! We can’t wait to see what these athletes do next!
