Today, our CEO, Robert Hunter, joined Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Minister MacDonald and Nurasa CEO Xiuling Guo, with delegates from Canada and Singapore, to announce an exciting new initiative that will strengthen relationships between Canada and Singapore.

The new Asia-Pacific Market Entry Program will act as a catalyst for Canadian agrifood companies looking to step into the Singapore market—a region focused on increasing sustainable, high-protein food options.

As Canada works to diversify its trade and innovation relationships, this program will support plant protein companies in optimizing their products for launch, while contributing to food resilience and sustainability goals across the Asia-Pacific region.

Aujourd'hui, notre PDG, Robert Hunter, s'est joint au ministre MacDonald d'Agriculture et Agroalimentaire Canada et à Xiuling Guo, PDG de Nurasa, ainsi qu'à des délégués du Canada et de Singapour, pour annoncer une nouvelle initiative prometteuse qui renforcera les relations entre le Canada et Singapour.

A new investment is supporting the global expansion of Canadian soybeans and creating new economic opportunities for farmers and food processors.

NRGene Canada, Pulse Genetics, Hensall Co-op, and Yumasoy Foods Ltd. are developing new varieties that will keep Canada competitive in speciality soybean markets, such as Japan.

The partners are also creating a novel, soy-based plant protein product for Canadian and global consumers.

A new collaboration is bringing to the forefront of Canada’s grain sector, with the development of a smartphone-based tool for real-time quality assessment.

Grain Discovery, Inarix and Sevita International are working together to create an AI-powered app that will enable farmers and processors to capture high-quality grain data in seconds—right from the field. The project will enhance transparency, support informed crop management decisions and expand access to quality data for Canadian farmers.

A range of Canadian ingredients will soon be featured in plant-based burgers around the world, thanks to a new partnership between Canadian and UK companies.

Protein Powered Farms, Botaneco Inc., Stars UK R&D and the University of Leeds are combining their expertise to improve the taste and texture of plant-based burgers using Canadian legumes and sunflower ingredients, helping meet the growing demand for diverse protein options while creating new markets for Canadian products.

RRC Polytech, the Manitoba Métis Federation and the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba are partnering with the and First Nation communities to help address food security and boost economic opportunities in Indigenous communities across Manitoba.

The partners will work with the communities to co-develop affordable, nutritious and culturally relevant plant-based food options that utilize ingredients, such as pulses.

This collaborative, Capacity Building project will support job creation, student learning and long-term health outcomes—advancing both Canada’s value-added sector and economic reconciliation with Indigenous people.

Protein Industries Canada (PIC) is an industry-led, not-for-profit organization created to position Canada as a global source of high-quality plant protein and plant-based co-products.

We are one of Canada’s five innovation Superclusters.

PIC will work with private sector industry partners to create co-investment projects that have the potential to transform the agriculture and food production sector, allowing Canada to secure our position as a global leader in the production of plant-based products and co-products.

The goal of the Supercluster is to challenge Canadian businesses to collaborate with other businesses, and post-secondary and research institutions to create projects that have the potential to transform the food processing sector in Canada, creating jobs and stimulating local economies.
