Christmas Challenge! Send blessings!

When someone sneezes we often say 'bless you.' We do it without thinking. This Christmas the challenge is to send blessings verbally, mentally or in writing to at least three people everyday!

It could be the checkout person at the grocery store, your Uber driver, a stranger on the street, a neighbor, relative or friend. You are wishing someone well, hoping for their happiness, good fortune, health and safety.

Remember you can send it by thought. Seeing someone and in your mind sending them a blessing through the 'mental mail'. You can say 'bless you' out loud or you can send a written note. It is a sincere expression of goodwill! Blessings to each of you this Christmas.

Bless you! Dr. Todd Sojonky

PEACE
Peace can exist only in the present moment. It is ridiculous to say 'Wait until I finish this, then I will be free to live in peace.' What is 'this'? A diploma, a job, a house, the payment of a debt? If you think that way, peace will never come. There is always another 'this' that will follow the present one. If you are not living in peace at this moment, you will never be able to. If you truly want to be at peace, you must be at peace right now. Otherwise, there is only 'the hope of peace some day.' -Thich Nhat Hanh

In my reading this weekend I was reminded of the practice of gratitude. We all feel down in the dumps sometimes, depressed or anxious. Usually these feelings come and go. A great practice is to go on a walk and say out loud what you are grateful for! I did it twice a day listing one thing I am grateful for with each finger on my hands. That's ten! And it was easy. In spite of the hurt and losses I have experienced it felt wonderful to remind myself of the blessings I have. My kids, wife, car, books, food, sunshine, blue sky and friends.

Today take a walk by yourself. Relax and breathe. Walk gently and list ten things you are thankful for. It will rewire your brain in a positive way!!!

Peace. Dr. Todd

"If you come to my home in France in the month of April, you won’t see any sunflowers. Yet the farmers have already planted the sunflower seeds. They’ve put manure and compost in the soil, and everything is ready. In early June, the stems will already have grown one or two feet tall, and within a month the sunflowers will be blooming everywhere. Our practice is to cultivate good seeds in the soil of our mind, knowing that they will mature and bloom in their own time. If we look deeply enough, we can already see the sunflowers in April."

Life is ups and downs for everyone.

The reality is most people aren’t joyful because they aren’t reacting to the “down times” well … once you get cozy with the dirt, the bad, the garbage, the issues, that’s when s**t gets good

"The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to blame. The gift is yours---it is an amazing journey---and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins." -Bob Moawad

WEEKEND CHALLENGE: Keep a feeling log once in the morning and once in the evening. Noting the feelings that come and go; how long they stay and what changes them. Second, complete this meditation three times over the weekend. Peace and good wishes. Dr. Todd

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive — to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” — Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

You woke up.
That alone is fortune.

Before you complain, remember this:
Millions never opened their eyes today.
You did.

Breathe deeply.
Think clearly.
Act boldly.
Love fiercely.

This day is not owed to you.
It’s a gift.

Don’t waste it.
