ls. It is important to recognize that we are all a balance of spiritual, emotional, mental & physical elements. Heather Lemieux, Founder & Owner of Wellness Woman Inc., grew up on a farm in southeast Saskatchewan, before completing her Undergraduate in Kinesiology & Health Studies from the University of Regina, majoring in Fitness & Healthy Lifestyle Management. Upon completing her degree, she relocated to Northern Alberta where, for over a decade, she served her rural community as a Health Promotion Coordinator. She did everything under the umbrella of Health Promotion including: events planning, health campaigns, workshops, facilitating committee meetings, being the lead for the federal tobacco reduction strategy, community engagement, wellness advocating, stress management and unique Health (not dis-ease) focused initiatives. It was during this time that Heather discovered and began to practice Usui Reiki, ultimately becoming a Reiki Master Practitioner. In 2013, Heather moved to Calgary and enrolled in the Integrative Health Coach program at Mount Royal University. She happily completed this life-changing program in 2016. A naturalist at heart, Heather (Rising Raven Guardian) turns to Mother Earth for guidance, meditation and balance. She loves to incorporate her wellness practices in many activities that she enjoys; gardening, daily nature walks, cooking, kayaking, hiking in the mountains, writing, camping traveling and photography. To add to her talent, she is a self-taught photographer ( www.healphotography.ca) and world traveler. In the spirit of curiosity, exploration, and growth, she has already visited 32 countries. She enjoys stepping outside of her comfort zone, challenging herself and connecting with people from all walks of life. As an Empowerment & Holistic Health Coach, Heather works with the whole person, by implementing a broad range of energy healing, coaching and health promotion teachings. Clients are empowered, motivated and inspired to reach their highest level of health and to engage in healthy mindsets and behaviours. She assists them in improving their health and well-being through personal responsibility, accountability, action-planning and self-motivation. Heather believes that often times, clients implicitly know what is healthy, but struggle to “get there”. She therefore uses mind-body-spirit resources to promote relaxation, stress and anxiety reduction, so that clients are able to become “unblocked” and are ready to pursue balance, happiness, fulfillment and life purpose. It is with great passion that Heather is committed to helping individuals take charge of their wellness. She is always learning and developing her practice; she recently completed the Integrative Health Coach program at Mount Royal University. She also recently achieved a Level 1 Neurokinesis Certification training that helps individuals with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and trauma. It is one of her many goals to eventually achieve her graduate degree in Integrative Health Studies. In 2010, Heather lost her spouse to a terminal illness and was a caregiver at a fairly young age. This experience was indescribably transforming for her and she still views it as a positive and invaluable learning experience. She notes that there was nothing fun about grieving yet it was an opportunity to really demonstrate her holistic health practices, resiliency, and strength. Just as she was getting some grounding in her grieving, her best friend Happy Camper (a beloved 4-legged creature, "the family dog") was hit by a semi on the highway. It was devastating to her, to say the least. All these traumatic events have helped shape Heather into the strong, compassionate and caring woman that she is. Heather speaks lovingly, openly and passionately from her heart and has started blogging her "wellness stories" on this site in addition to writing her own book. Her intent is to share what all her experiences have taught her and the value of having preventative wellness practices in place; traveling, grieving, living urban and rural lifestyles, being grounded in nature, healthy relationships, mindful communication, the art of photography ... she truly is the Wellness Woman on the rise and uplifting so many in the process.
“May the sun bring you new energy by day, may the moon softly restore you by night, may the rain wash away your worries, may the breeze blow new strength into your being, may you walk gently through the world and know it's beauty all the days of your life.” – Apache Blessing
