Pearson's correlation coefficient between the Salivary Secretion and Heart Rate Variability Modified By Auriculopuncture

This study showed that auriculopuncture in auricular points SG2 and SP elicited a significant increase in unstimulated salivary flow rate (uSFR) in healthy people, mainly in subjects with normal lesser uSFR. Besides, this effect was correlated with changes in HRV compatible with a rise in sympathetic activity.

A 2023 randomized clinical trial involving 298 patients with advanced cancer, conducted over a 26-week period, found that both acupuncture and massage significantly reduced long-term pain. There was no significant difference between the two treatments.
