World Spine Day Pt. 5 🥌🏀⚽️🏐

Partaking in sports enhances the power your body is able to produce, which in turn supports a strong spine. Being able to produce more power in your movements not only supports your spine, but it can also help you recover more quickly if you trip or lose your footing, which can help prevent falls!

There are many awesome sport clubs in Renfrew and surrounding for adults that give you a chance to and keep moving well.

World Spine Day is really about creating awareness for how important it is to invest time and care into your spine, as low back and neck pain are two of the leading causes of disability worldwide.

Chiropractic care and active intervention can help people recover from injury, but also maintain good function. We hope you’re able to take some tips from this week and apply it into your routine!

World Spine Day Pt. 4 🚴‍♀️

Endurance activities such as biking, running, and swimming all require core stability and engage postural muscles along the spine.

Training postural muscles can help us subconsciously maintain a more neutral spine when sitting down, standing or walking, which can help to avoid repetitively straining the muscles along the spine.

Stay tuned for our last post tomorrow of how to !

World Spine Day Pt. 3 🌲

Spinal stabilizers are muscles that provide resiliency and adaptability to your spine. They keep your spine in a safe alignment, and provide feedback to your brain about your spine’s position (aka proprioceptive feedback) 🤓

These muscles can be strengthened by activities such as walking on an uneven trail or hiking up a terrain. This is another way to with low barriers to accessibility! 🥾

World Spine Day Pt. 2 🏋️‍♂️

Another way to is to train your core stabilizer muscles. This includes the muscles directly in your back, but also the muscles in your abdomen to have an overall strong core.

Having strong core muscles creates increased stability in your spine so you can comfortably handle activities such as lifting groceries, carrying your children/grandchildren, and bending forward to rake leaves or shovel snow 🍂❄️

Some ways to increase and maintain your core strength includes activities such as resistance training, Pilates, kickboxing, yoga, and karate 🥊

Thursday is World Spine Day! 🩻

This week we will be posting one tip per day of different ways you can 💪🏻

Today we are focusing on investing in daily movement. Daily movement can be focused exercise, but it can also be choosing to take the stairs, parking further away from the store, or breaking up your sitting every hour. Small choices can have big impacts on your overall health.

Stay tuned for more tips throughout the week!
