I just finished this dress made out of two thrift shop sheets to wear it at Luna Sound on Friday night. I used a draping technique. Draping is an organic and playful way of designing clothing, and it makes creating a breeze and super fun.

Finally finished this dress just in time to wear at Lunasound Friday night.

I bought two sheets from the thriftshop and used draping which is the process of positioning and pinning the fabric on a dress form. It is used to design organically by playing with the fabric on the form.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Professional Art Therapist based in Revelstoke, BC. I use a blend of creative and existential therapeutic approaches, and integrate sensorimotor processing through bi-lateral drawing, mindfulness, self-compassion, and acceptance & commitment therapy. Draping is the process of positioning and pinning the fabric on a dress form. It is used to design organically by playing with the fabric on the form. The draping process is a creative technique which empowers us to be more creative and innovative. If we design and sew our own clothes we tap into a part of our identity that is creative, inspired and confident in who we are and how we want to show up in the world.
