Struggling to keep consistent to your routine as the season shifts? We got you.

• Pick 2 set days - Same days each week. No thinking.
• Keep sessions short - 30–40 minutes is enough if you stay focused.
• Have a “minimum” plan - Busy week? Do 2–3 key exercises and leave. Any workout is a good workout!
• Pair it with something you already do - Before work. After a ride. Hanging out with a friend.
• Focus on maintenance, not progress. You’re supporting your outdoor activity, not replacing it.
• Book it like an appointment. If it’s scheduled, it happens.

Today in exercises we love - Deep Squat Hip & Ankle Mobility Drill.

You might not guess it, but this drill is perfect for rock climbers… but why?

Climbing often involves placing your feet on small holds and keeping the center of gravity close to the wall. This requires extreme hip rotation and deep ankle mobility to "lock in" positions.

Mobility drills like this will improve your balance, enabling you to sit deeper on your legs and reduce stress on your arms.

Cynthia’s path to becoming a counsellor started with something simple. Time in nature.

Being outside, learning to slow down, and the importance of connecting with others helped her realize how fulfilling the mind-body connection really is. When healing is not just about talking through things. It’s about feeling grounded, present and supported.

This is one of the approaches Cythia brings into her work. Creating space to slow down, reconnect and move through things in a way that feels manageable.
Sometimes the first step is just giving yourself that space.

Fraser Sprigings recently led a workshop at the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM) 2026 conference. His session, Intro to Force Plate Analysis for Return to Play, focused on using quantifiable data to move past simple timelines and make safer, more confident "Return to Play" decisions.

Data-informed care means less guessing and more clarity on your path from rehab to performance.

Spring and summer in Revelstoke means more riding, hiking, and time on the trails. Your time spent outside doesn't need to compete with your time in the gym, it should support it!

It’s only natural for your gym routine to shift this time of year. Think of your time training as keeping your body strong, balanced and ready for what you’re asking it to do outside.

A bit of strength work each week can help you:
• Keep your knees and hips happy on long descents (Balu Pass anyone?)
• Build strength for climbs and uneven terrain
• Reduce the chance of those early-season aches turning into something more

Walk and Talk Therapy

Not every session has to happen in an office. Walk and talk counselling offers the option to meet outdoors, moving at a comfortable pace or sitting in a quiet space. For some people, being outside can make it easier to open up, feel grounded, and settle the nervous system.

It’s still a professional counselling session, just in a different setting. If this style of support resonates with you, connect with us to explore Walk and Talk therapy with Cynthia Routhier, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).

Most people are not perfectly balanced in their strength side to side. That is completely normal. The problems start when one side is doing more work than the other for too long. Your body will compensate to keep you moving, and that extra load usually shows up as pain somewhere else.

You might see this as:
• One hip working harder on runs
• Knee pain on one side
• Low back tightness that keeps coming back
• Feeling stronger or more stable on one leg

This or That: Trail Run vs Gym Run. Both are great. They just train your body differently!

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗿𝘂𝗻
Works on balance, stability and control through the feet, ankles, and hips, as you’re constantly adjusting to uneven ground, hills, and changing pace

What we see in the clinic:
•Ankle rolls
•Achilles and IT Band overload
•Fatigue from stabilizing on uneven terrain

𝗚𝘆𝗺 𝗿𝘂𝗻 (𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹)
Works on consistent pacing, endurance and controlled loading, which is great for building fitness in a more predictable environment.

What we see in the clinic:
•Shin splints from over striding
•Repetitive Strain issues from the tissues getting loaded the same way, over and over
•Knee or hip irritation if form breaks down

Our Physiotherapists can help figure you out what works best for you, based on your goals and what your body needs right now.

Hey Revelstoke! We want to let you know about a temporary gym closure.

The Keystone Health gym facility will be closed from Sunday April 19 from 5 pm to Monday April 20th at 4am due to scheduled electrical work.

During this time, no access to the facility will be allowed, as the work requires the space to be fully closed.

We appreciate your understanding as we complete this necessary work. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our team!

Today in exercises we love - The Bulgarian Split Squat!

Great for hikers, runners, trail runners, basically any sport where you’re pushing, landing or stabilizing on one leg.

This burner works multiple muscles of the leg including calves, hamstrings, quads and gluts. Plus multiple muscles of the back, legs and arms are also working to stabilize.

Ensure that your pelvis is in a neutral position and abdominal muscles are contracted throughout the entire movement. Keep your trunk vertical.
Front leg should receive 95% of your body weight. The back leg should feel a stretch in the front of the thigh as you lower.

The front knee should travel directly over your toes. Back knee should point directly down to the ground.

Summer is on its way folks! And with that means new food on the menu. We are so lucky to have so many amazing local farms here in Revelstoke, and the fresh produce that comes with them. This gives us an opportunity to adjust how we fuel our bodies seasonally.

We often forget what you put on your plate directly influences your mood, sleep patterns, body systems, strength and more. Now is a perfect time to see how nutrition can make your transition into summer activities smoother and recovery a little bit easier.
