A new ritual of heat, cold, and calm is coming to Revelstoke.

New research confirms what ancient wellness traditions have long known — alternating heat and cold has measurable benefits for the body.

A 2024 review published in the Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine analyzed seven clinical trials involving 303 participants. The results showed that contrast therapy significantly reduced pain and swelling, and improved joint mobility and physical function across multiple conditions, including muscle soreness and arthritis (PubMed ID: 40094855).

By challenging the body through heat and cold, circulation improves, inflammation decreases, and recovery accelerates — a scientific reflection of what Nordic cultures have practiced for centuries.
