Happy Wednesday!

“Karin, I think I’m failing in my new role.”
That’s what a manager told me last week - after being in the role for just over 6 months.

He’s not failing.
He’s doing exactly what got him promoted.
And that’s the problem.

Most people think a promotion is a reward.
It’s not. It’s a completely different job. 😵‍💫

📌 Same person.
📌 Same effort.
📌 Same work ethic.
📌 Wrong mindset.

You were promoted for what you did.
You’ll succeed for how you think.

And nobody teaches that part.
So people work harder…
get more involved…
try to prove themselves…
…and slowly become the bottleneck.

Not because they’re not capable.
But because they’re still thinking like a doer.

Promoted… now what?
We just released a new video on this topic, because this is where most leadership journeys either stall or take off.

I invite you to take a look.

Happy Friday!

This is something very near and dear to my heart because I see it almost every day in my work with clients.

People are exhausted.
Not because they don’t care.
Not because they’re not capable, but because too many workplaces are still running on:

🙄 poor leadership
🙄 unclear communication
🙄 reactive, last-minute planning

The result?
😵‍💫 Constant firefighting.
😵‍💫 Frustration.
😵‍💫 Low morale.
😵‍💫 Missed potential.

And the worst part…
It has become normalized.
➡️ “That’s just how it is.”
➡️ “We’re busy.”
➡️ “It comes with the job.”

No. It doesn’t.

This is exactly why I wrote my new book - 14 years after my first one. I’m truly excited because I see that people are fed up with the chaos, and this book will make a difference for those ready to lead differently.

Title:
How Can We MAKE MANUFACTURING SEXY?
THE MINDSET SHIFT from Firefighting to People-First Leadership for Manufacturing and Technical Teams

I stay with my theme of making manufacturing sexy, because there is nothing attractive about chaos, confusion, and constant firefighting.

It's taking a toll on people’s mental health and well-being, and it doesn’t have to be this way.

When leadership is clear…
When communication is intentional…
When planning replaces reacting…
Everything changes.

✔️ People think again
✔️ Teams collaborate
✔️ Problems get solved faster
✔️ Work becomes more meaningful

This book is a practical workbook for leaders who want to move beyond
daily firefighting and start building strong, capable teams.

Less chaos.
More clarity.
Better leadership.

It’s time to raise the standard. Who's ready to step up?

What are you seeing in your organization right now - firefighting or people-first leadership?

Happy Wednesday!

No time to train leaders on the shop floor?
Then get ready to spend your days managing problems, downtime, and turnover. 😳

Most supervisors in manufacturing aren’t trained to lead, they’re promoted for being technically strong.

And then we wonder why communication breaks down, why engagement drops,
and why the same issues keep coming back.

Let’s be honest:
This is not a production problem.
It’s a leadership and communication problem.

I’ve always believed in putting people first.
Not because numbers don’t matter, but because people produce the numbers. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Machines don’t create culture.
Leaders do.

So here’s the real question:
Are your operators heard… or just expected to perform and follow?

Because toxic environments don’t come from the work, they come from how people are led.

And it only takes ‼️one leader‼️ on the floor with the courage to think differently, communicate clearly, and lead like a human being… to shift everything.

No Time to Train Leaders? Then You’ll Keep Managing Problems.

If you keep saying “now isn’t a good time for training,” you may be creating bigger problems than you’re avoiding. In this video, we break down how delaying ...

Happy Thursday!

There’s something that has been on my mind for a long time:
Why are we so prone to living in fear?

Since moving to Canada, I’ve realized that I’ve rarely been in my comfort zone. There are often fears and worries in my mind. I do my best to counter them with relentless optimism, hope, and faith, but it’s not easy.

People often tell me I have a very optimistic outlook, and I say:
“Yes, and it takes hard work to keep my mind in check.” 🤷🏼‍♀️

When I look at the corporate world, I notice that many (if not most) people operate from a place of fear, for different reasons.

But the most challenging situation?
A fearful and insecure manager.

Leaders who pretend to have it all figured out, yet fail to truly lead their teams. They follow their own managers blindly, without standing up for themselves, or for their people.

In what situations do you notice fear influencing your choices the most?

Leaders Who Don't Challenge Decisions Fail Their Teams

This video explores the risks of leaders failing to question plans and blindly following, even when they see flaws, highlighting common leadership problems. ...

Happy Wednesday!

Did you know it takes courage to be human?
Especially in environments that reward output over people.

When people in leadership roles are constantly at their limits, something predictable happens:
✅Emotions go up
✅Thinking goes down
✅Decisions get rushed
✅Communication gets shorter
✅Patience disappears

😳 Emotions high. Intelligence low.

Leaders default to what feels urgent:
numbers, output, firefighting.

And slowly, often without realizing it,
people get pushed to the background.

Do you have the courage to be different, or will you keep managing numbers instead of leading people?

When employees are pushed beyond their “maximum load,” burnout becomes inevitable. This video explains why burnout isn’t a personal failure, but a system pro...

Happy Thursday!

Technical excellence does NOT equal leadership excellence.

Your best operator can quickly become your weakest leader. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We keep promoting people for what made them successful yesterday, and then act surprised when they struggle managing humans instead of machines. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Why do so many newly promoted managers think they no longer need to learn?
Leadership is a completely different skill set and requires a new mindset - a whole new way of thinking.

Great doers often fail when the job shifts from doing to developing others.

Happy Mindset Friday!

Most operations meetings focus only on problems.

What if the real issue isn’t the process, but the thinking behind it?

I wrote about this in my newest article. If you care about performance, leadership, and culture in manufacturing, this one is for you.

Happy Friday!

Everyone feels angry, frustrated, or sad once in a while. What’s not okay is walking through life feeling this way all the time.

Sadness every day can lead to depression. Being angry and frustrated daily can increase the risk of stroke or heart attack.

I invite you to watch our video today on how you can shift your emotional state.

I learned this years ago from Tony Robbins, and it truly helped me in my life.

Happy Wednesday! The link to our video is in the bio. 🙏🏻

Manufacturing is running on empty.

People are tired. Exhausted. Burned out. And many don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Non-stop emails. Constant firefighting. Angry managers. Daily pressure.

And we call this performance? 😳

I recently started working with a newly promoted production manager. Smart. Capable. Driven.

She showed up to our first call completely depleted.

Twelve-hour days. No recovery. No life.

And then we act surprised when people become short-tempered, disengaged, or “difficult.”

Let’s be honest:

Overworked people don’t become better employees. They become stressed humans.

And stressed humans don’t lead well.

Elon Musk says we should work every waking hour.

Fine. 🤷🏼‍♀️

But let’s not pretend that comes without a cost. Families pay it. Health pays it. Culture pays it.

It is NOT normal to:

🗯️ work 7 days a week
🗯️ be on email 24/7
🗯️ wake up at 3 a.m. thinking about production issues
🗯️ have no hobbies, no space, no life
🗯️ tolerate being belittled or bullied

If this feels normal to you, that’s the problem.

Manufacturing doesn’t have a people problem.

It has a normalization of exhaustion problem.

If you work in this industry, listen to the voices around you.

And listen to the quiet one inside you saying:
“This isn’t sustainable.”

Happy Wednesday!

Too many voices at work go unheard. 😢

Feeling undervalued, underappreciated, or constantly criticized can make anyone question themselves - their abilities, their motivation, even their mindset. Some get bitter, some disengage… but does it have to be that way?

I believe it comes down to one thing: perspective. How you choose to see the world, and whether you refuse to settle for complacency.
