What is power and pumping?

Power pumping is technique of pumping that mimics babies’ frequent cluster feedings, when the baby eats shorter, but more frequently, in the span of an hour. During this time, this triggers prolactin in moms’ bodies to produce more milk and helps increase your milk supply!

Pumping while you’re calm, in a quiet place uninterrupted can also help increase your milk supply.

Choose whatever position is comfortable for you as you’re breastfeeding your baby. Either a football hold, which is a good position if you’re recovering from a c-section or a cross-cradle hold, which is a good position if your baby is premature or needs extra head support. Choose what works for you and your baby! ☺️

Biggest difference with shallow vs deep latch? One’s effective with getting milk and nutrients to baby with the baby being latched properly and suckling, and the other ineffective and painful, where the baby is only sucking on the ni**le, and not getting any milk.

💫 One of the biggest misconceptions moms talk about is that they’re worried that their milk won’t be enough for their babies when their mature milk comes on day 3-5.

💫 And when moms’ milk comes in, the more baby breastfeeds, the more milk will be produced!

💫 When a baby is just born, they are just getting used to the bright outside world, away from the warmth of their mommy’s womb. So it’s going to take them some time to get the hang of latching, suckling to full feeding, and both mom and baby are learning ☺️

💫 Baby’s first milk is called colostrum, which is a thick, yellow nutrient-rich liquid, high in protein and low in fat and sugar. It is has antibodies that strengthen your baby’s immune system. A small amount goes a long way because it’s nutrient-dense.

💫 There’s a reason why it’s called Liquid Gold, because of all the amazing benefits for baby! And having that skin-to-skin during that “golden hour” after baby is born will help with this too!

💫you got this mamas! ❤️
