You may have seen this trending, the “Japanese walking method” that claims to be more effective than hitting 10,000 steps a day. But is there science to back it up?

This method is also known as Interval Walking Training (IWT). It involves alternating 3 minutes of brisk walking with 3 minutes of slower walking, repeated five times for a total of 30 minutes.
