📢 Exciting News for BC Residents: New Prescription Coverage is Here! 📢

Starting March 1, 2026, British Columbia is introducing Plan NP (National Pharmacare), a new provincial plan providing universal coverage for several essential medication categories.

❓ Who is eligible?
All BC residents currently enrolled in the Medical Services Plan (MSP) are eligible for Plan NP coverage.

❓What is covered at 100%?
Starting March 1, the following categories qualify for 100% coverage at the pharmacy:
✅ Select diabetes medications, including all insulins.
✅ Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT).
✅ Contraceptives.

❓What does "100% coverage" mean for you?
For these benefits, PharmaCare’s Full Payment Policy applies. This means the pharmacy cannot charge you for the medication cost, the dispensing fee, or any associated service fees. You should pay $0 for fully covered Plan NP claims.

📣📣📣 Important details to keep in mind:
(1) Low-Cost Alternatives (LCA): Some medications may be subject to LCA pricing. If you choose a higher-priced brand instead of a fully covered generic version, you may be responsible for the price difference unless a Special Authority (SA) is approved.

(2) Insulin Changes: Insulin is now a regulated PharmaCare benefit. It has moved from unregulated retail pricing to 100% coverage under the Maximum Pricing Policy.

(3) Coming Soon: Coverage will expand even further on April 1, 2026, to include certain diabetes-related devices and supplies.
