Every summer, City Vancouver Academy High School in Richmond hosts camps for international students to learn and experience Vancouver’s culture. This year, students organized a charity sale to support health care in Richmond, raising funds for the POWER UP Campaign to bring advanced technology to the future Yurkovich Family Pavilion. Thank you, City Vancouver Academy High School, for showcasing our city, highlighting philanthropy, and inspiring young people to give back.

Recent donor funding has increased patient access to medical imaging services in Richmond. These new and advanced tools help empower Richmond Hospital’s health care teams to deliver faster, more accurate diagnoses in addition to more compassionate care. Support from donors helps ensure patients and families across our community receive the best possible care close to home.

Rising temperatures have led to increased tick activity, especially in grassy or wooded areas. Keep safe if you're spending time outdoors:

• Dress in light-coloured, long-sleeved tops and long pants
• Use insect repellent that protects against ticks
• Stay on marked paths and avoid tall grass
• Do a full body check after spending time outdoors (and check your pets too)

If you find a tick, visit eTick.ca to upload a photo and get expert identification.

Thank you to Vancouver Artopia Youth Society for supporting health care in Richmond through their 8th Artopia International Youth Art Contest.

A portion of the event’s proceeds was donated to our POWER UP Campaign, which is helping bring advanced medical equipment and technology to the new Yurkovich Family Pavilion at Richmond Hospital. We’re grateful for their continued support in advancing health care for our community.

Summer often means spending time at the beach, by the pool, or near the water. Whether you're swimming, floating, or simply cooling off, it's important to stay alert and informed.

Here are some important safety tips to keep in mind:

• Never dive into unfamiliar or shallow water
• Avoid swimming after heavy rainfall, especially in natural waters
• Always supervise children near water
• Wear water shoes to protect your feet from sharp objects or hidden hazards

Let’s enjoy the season safely and responsibly—together.

We recently welcomed Chao's Generation Inc., supporters of Richmond’s Yurkovich Family Pavilion, for a tour at Richmond Hospital.

This year, they donated $6,250 – a portion of the McHappy Day proceeds from at all six of their Richmond locations – towards the POWER UP Campaign. Their generosity will help bring advanced technologies and programs to Richmond Hospital’s new acute care tower, enhancing access to health care for local families.

This is Chao’s Generation Inc.’s fifth contribution to date and we are grateful for their continued commitment to giving back and showing up where it matters most.

Heat stroke doesn’t always come with a warning. When the body overheats and can’t cool down, things can escalate quickly.

Learn to spot the warning signs:

• Headache – sudden, throbbing pain
• Skin – hot, red, or dry to the touch
• Confusion – dizziness or disorientation
• High temperature (over 40°C) with little or no sweat

If you suspect someone is experiencing heat stroke, call 9-1-1 immediately, move them to a cool place, and try to lower their body temperature with cool water or ice packs.
