Let’s make your rehab WORTH IT. 💪

How do we do that?

I give you honest insight and practical advice and we set some realistic goals for your rehab.
We focus on organizing your muscles, getting you to build an awareness of how they should move and feel together.

Here’s an example:

I had a client in recovery with a hernia. His deadlifts were feeling really strong, but when I told him to activate his glutes, the strength wasn’t there. This means he was utilizing compensation elsewhere.

So, instead of simply telling him how to adjust, I showed him how to activate the muscles. We slowed right down and focused on small, manageable goals.

Sometimes in rehab, we have setbacks, and, if we want progress to be sustainable, it can be slow. It’s all about staying even.

Stay the course–stay consistent–keep making progress. You’ll get there in the end. 🌞

Around this time of year, people make a lot of resolutions about fitness. Most of the time, these resolutions are unsustainable. If this is your year, I recommend taking a holistic approach so you don’t hurt yourself, and so that all the hard work is worth it!

Let’s start by figuring out what kind of specialist you need after an injury:

💪 Start with a physiotherapist to help loosen and strengthen the injured area. When all swelling is gone, you’re ready to move on.

💪 At this point you could see a chiropractor (to adjust and align your spine) and/or a massage therapist (to relax any tight muscles).

💪 This is where I come in! I help you unlock your body’s movement with stretching and strengthening exercises. When you’re done with me, your movements should be stable and pain-free!

💪 If you’d still like some structure, you might enlist a personal trainer, who can help with maintaining fitness and overall health.

That’s because your body knows what’s up.

If your body tells you to slow down, speed up, take a break - it’s time to listen! When you’re exercising, allow yourself to feel sad and happy in the moment and embrace your body’s signals.

I’ve been doing kinesiology for a long time. ⚡️

And over my time, I’ve learned a few fundamental things about injury recovery.

Here’s a nugget of insight: Be honest about what resistance you can lift during your rehabilitation. You don’t want to push yourself too hard because you’ll probably just end up hurting yourself and going backwards on your rehab journey. Remember: slow and steady wins the race!

Having trouble deciding if you need a kinesiologist? Here are five ways to know:

You’ve got chronic pain

When we talk about the deeper core, we mean the transverse abdominis and the pelvic floor. If these muscles are weak, you’ll feel tightness and/or pain in your hip flexors and your low back.
You can ease this with some exercises that activate and engage your deeper core.

It can be tough to locate and activate these muscles. It’s common to mistake them for inner thigh muscles or tummy muscles. You’re born with motor programming that inherently knows how to activate these deeper core muscles. Along the way, if you don’t practice, you’ll lose this ability. But when you find them again, it will feel familiar and safe.

With the Core Focus Training Method, it doesn’t take long to see improvements. In fact, you usually see them after the first session.
