Not to TICK anyone off… but this is exactly why we recommend year-round parasite prevention. These pests don’t wait for warmer weather—and neither should your pet’s protection. Ask us about parasite risks and prevention options at your next visit!

Meet Coco! She is owned by Steveston Veterinary Hosptial team member, Shannon. At 15 and a half Cocot is often mistaken for a puppy... and she certainly acts like one too, still playing with her toys every day! Coco is a cute little mix of Poodle, Cavalier and American Eskimo.

Despite her age Coco stays active with daily exercise and receives routine nail trims to support healthy movement and help prevent arthritis-related gait issues. She also has her teeth brushed routinely to keep her oral health in top shape.

Coco comes in for biannual exams to make sure everything is on track - something we strongly recommend for all senior pets. As dogs enter their senior years (around 8 years of age), proactive care and early detection of changes are key to maintaining a happy and healthy life into their senior years!

It’s Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Week! 💛🐾

This week, we celebrate the friendly faces who greet you at the door, answer your calls, comfort worried pet parents, juggle a hundred tasks at once, and keep our hospital running smoothly every single day.

Our reception team is full of compassion, patience, and incredible dedication—and we couldn’t do what we do without them.
Thank you for being the calm in the chaos, the first hello, and the warm reassurance our clients and patients count on. 💐✨

If you see our amazing receptionists this week, give them a big thank-you—they deserve it!

April is Heartworm Awareness Month! 🐾❤️

Heartworm disease is serious, potentially life-threatening, and completely preventable. Transmitted by mosquitoes, heartworms can cause lasting damage to your pet’s heart, lungs, and overall health long before signs appear.

The good news? Prevention is simple, safe, and far more affordable than treatment.
If your pet hasn’t had their annual test or is due for their prevention, now is a perfect time to check in with us.

Protect their heart—keep them safe year-round. 💛

Ever wonder how laser therapy helps pets? Therapeutic lasers use specific wavelengths of light to target tissues below the skin’s surface. This light energy can reduce inflammation, improve blood flow, and support the body’s natural healing processes. For aging pets, this often means better mobility and less discomfort associated with chronic conditions.
