Have you been in a time of personal struggle?
Has that candy bar, ice cream, mac & cheese or diet pop looked like your friend..., only to find out that it was not your friend, they did not provide the long term comfort you hoped for...? And now, the muffin top has serious volume - like spare tire volume... no fluffy muffin top.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS STRUGGLE!
It is quite "normal" in a time of stress or struggle to revert back to old habits of eating especially if we associate eating with comfort or reward. I am speaking from personal experience on this one.
Where do you start recovery when you have gone so far down the road of comfort foods? Here are few suggestions:
TRADE OUT!
Trade club soda with lemon for the diet drink you have been consuming.
Trade an orange, apple or half a grapefruit for the cookies or chips in the evening.
Trade a few of cashews or almonds for snack crackers.
Trade "riced" cauliflower for white rice at your evening meal.
Trade a heavy meat dinner for mounds of vegetables, half an avocado, and 3 oz of lean meat.
When you have lots of options to choose from the trade does not seem like deprivation, but rather an "I've got this" resolution. Plan ahead for success. Have at your fingertips the "trades" you have chosen for those times when the spirit feels weak.
Remember you only have to have one good day - today is that day. All the tomorrows will soon be today - the one good day.
Be proud of your efforts whether big or small!
