Artist conk(Ganoderma applanatum)
As the name suggests this mushroom is used for its wide, flate shape with a white spore side that works great as a canvas for sketching or painting and the art will remain preserved! Similar to the reishi, the Chinese call it the 'ancient ling zhi' which means "spirit plant" derived from the Chinese name chih se lao mu chum, meaning "flesh coloured ancient life source mushroom." In traditional Chinese medicine it is used to reduce mucus production, resolve indigestion, treat homeostasis, stop pain and remove heat. It is used extensively for radiation protection, and, of course, immune regulation. Artist Conk's main actions are anti tumor, anti-viral, anti bacterial, immuno-modulating, anti-diabetic and anti-inflammatory. Alcohol extracts have been shown to have extremely high anti oxidant activity. Artist conk and reishi both enhance the immune system and reduce inflammation in the body. This is a perennial mushrooms meaning it lives and grows year after year and it can get to be massive in size. Because of it being so widespread and common in the forest this mushroom can be seen as a steward not only for the ecological health of the woodlands but for its human inhabitants as well.
Reishi (Ganoderma Oregonense)
For thousands of years Reishi has been celebrated for it's anti-aging benefits, as well as being effective in the treatment of a wide range of health conditions. Throughout history it was considered priceless and only consumed by royalty in China and Japan. It is now valued on a global scale and is widely cultivated. Reishi extracts have shown anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, and blood pressure lowering effects. It contains polysaccharides(long chain complex sugar molecules) which contain beta-glucan, a supplement known for strong immune enhancing capabilties. Reishi has shown to be effective in the treatment of neuroses caused by "environmental stress." In China, reishi is used for its muscle relaxing and pain-inhibiting effects. In one study, reishi alleviated anxiety in 18 of 20 patients after four months of use. It was concluded that the mushroom has an essentially "calmative" function.
I am excited to share these medicines with you :)
