Somatic Tools for Overwhelm & Anxiety
🗓 March 8th | 1–4pm
📍 Yoga by the Sea, Roberts Creek, BC

When your nervous system is in overdrive, thinking harder doesn’t help.

If you’ve been feeling anxious, scattered, overstimulated, or caught in spirals you can’t seem to think your way out of — this 3-hour workshop offers a different approach.

Instead of analysing the anxiety, we meet it in the body.

You’ll explore:
• Grounding practices you can use in the moment
• Breathwork to settle your system
• Gentle, accessible movement to discharge stress
• Tools to help you soften overwhelm and respond with more choice

These are simple, body-based practices you can actually use in the middle of real life — not just on the mat.

No yoga or meditation experience needed.
Everything is invitational, adaptable, and paced with care.
Includes movement, breathwork, meditation, and an optional sharing circle.

Facilitated by Melissa Lyons — blending yoga therapy, somatics, psychology-informed inquiry, and life mentoring to support deep, practical nervous system change.

If your system has been running hot lately… this space is for you.

🩵 A Sacred Paradox:
Sometimes, to return to yourself, you must ask for guidance and let go.

At first glance, devotion can appear outward toward a teacher, a guru, a lineage, a murti, a mantra. The mind may wonder, Isn’t the path inward? Yet the great sages have always known: the way inward is often through conscious offering outward.

To offer with humility.
To receive with openness.
To surrender the tight grip of “I know.”
To allow the heart to soften.

In that movement of offering and receiving, the contracted “me” begins to loosen. And what remains is Presence.

In our modern language, we speak often of self-care how to nourish and nurture ourselves. This is essential. A depleted vessel cannot pour. Yet there is another truth equally vital: we cannot truly nourish ourselves if we have never allowed ourselves to nourish others. Giving and receiving are not opposites; they are one current flowing in different expressions, a polarity.

This is the balance.
