January 14 — C-Section Awareness Day 🤍
As a doula, I want to be clear:
I don’t push for Cesarean birth when it isn’t medically necessary. Research shows that having a doula lowers C-section rates, especially first-time Cesareans, by supporting informed decisions, physiologic birth, and continuous care.
And also…
A C-section is not a failure.
A mother never did anything wrong.
And no one gets to judge a birth they didn’t live.
I am also a C-section mom. My baby flipped breech during labor, and my birth took an unexpected turn. Planned, unplanned, emergency, voluntary—whatever the reason, I know how complex and emotional these births can be.
If your journey includes a Cesarean, I am still here to support you.
Why a doula still matters for C-section births: • Prenatal education, preparation, and advocacy
• Emotional support before and during surgery
• Partner support during unexpected changes
• Postpartum recovery, bonding, and lactation support
• Trauma-informed care and birth processing
Birth isn’t about how your baby arrived—it’s about how supported and respected you felt.
You deserve care, compassion, and support—every step of the way. 🤍
