Returning to balance after a long winter can be slow… layered… and deeply supportive.

In yoga and Ayurveda, there’s a concept called the gunas three qualities that are always present in all matter, inlcuding the body and mind:

• heaviness and stillness (tamas)
• movement and effort (rajas)
• balance and clarity (sattva)

Our yoga practice doesn’t have to force us out of one and into another.

It honours where we begin.

Some days we arrive feeling heavy… slow… maybe even resistant.
Trust that this is not something to fix, it’s simply the starting point.

From there, we begin to gently stir
inviting a little more movement… a little more energy… without pushing past what the body is ready for.

And somewhere along the way, we find a place where effort and ease meet.

Where the body feels supported…
and the mind feels a little more clear.

As we move away from the darkness and heaviness of winter we are reminded ~
Not rushing.
Not forcing.
Just allowing.

Join me this week as we move towards more harmony and balance, where have space to rest, to move, and come back into balance.

A gentle stirring.
A soft return.
A willingness to slow down enough to actually feel. This is where growth happens.

Because when we slow down, we begin to listen.

We notice where we’re holding… where we’re strong… where we might be overriding what the body is asking for.

And from that awareness, something shifts.

Not because we forced it…
but because we created the conditions for it to unfold.

This is what a gentle awakening can look like.

Not chasing deeper shapes…
but building a deeper connection.

My word for this year is alignment.

This isn't about perfect shapes or external form, rather it's about aligning from the inside out.

In yoga, alignment is when breath, body, and attention are in relationship with one another.
When movement reflects what feels true, not what we think it should look like.

This week’s practice is an invitation to listen inward
and let that inner wisdom lead.
