Sometimes you meet someone, or even BEFORE meeting them, hear about them, and just KNOW on a deep level that you’re meant to be in each other’s lives. That’s how I felt about Holly right from the get go. Although we’ve only met in person thrice (ooh, I got to legitimately use the word thrice!), every time it feels like we just click into place w each other. ✨

Holly is such a beautiful, gentle, creative and deeply-rooted soul. I love being in her presence and appreciate all the gifts she shares with the world. Art-making, reiki, yoga, her gifts abound. And she has such a way of bringing people together in a safe, supportive and easy way. Thanks for being you, Holly!

And thank you to for a delicious, wholesome lunch! Check them out, folks!

✨ Exciting Team News ✨

I’m so happy to share that Megan has officially joined Parkland Psychology & Wellness as a contract counsellor! Many of you will remember Megan from her time here as a practicum therapist—she was such a natural fit that I knew I wanted to keep her on our team.

Megan recently earned her Master’s in Counselling Psychology and achieved her Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation, which means her sessions are reimbursable through most insurance providers.

She is bright, compassionate, curious, and deeply skilled at building connection with a wide range of clients. Megan brings warmth, non-judgment, and a wonderful sense of fun and dedication to her work—a beautiful complement to our team.

Both Megan and I are currently accepting new clients. If you’re considering counselling, you can complete our form through the website to book a free consultation. This is a chance to see if we’re the right fit for you—and if not, we’ll gladly provide referral ideas for alternate options.

Big news, friends: I bought my dream home to house my psychological practice. 💛

From the moment I saw the listing, I felt a full-body YES (craziest manifestation story to come…). Built in 1915—the same year as my childhood home—with a dining room painted the very same sun-washed yellow. Hardwood floors. Tall ceilings. A welcoming front porch. And room for mindfulness groups, breathwork, yoga, and outreach/workshops. It feels safe, warm, and like HOME—a space where people can come to heal, and where I can fully flourish as a psychologist, bringing psychology together with holistic approaches for our community.

With deep gratitude, thank you to Rheanne and Wes and the Smellie Block Building for being such a beautiful home to my practice for the past six years. You have been so accommodating and hospitable. That space has held meaningful, life-changing work—hundreds of clients, four practicum student therapists, and, more recently, the powerful offerings Jenny, Alexis, and Arielle have shared with individuals and groups. I’m profoundly grateful for all it has gifted us.

Thank you to my husband, Nate, for championing me, believing in me, and encouraging me to take up space and step fully into myself as a psychologist and a woman. To my boys—thank you for cheering me on and seeing me as a multi-dimentional person with business-dreams and passion.

To my friends in Kentucky and here in Manitoba— thank you for every cheer from Zoom calls, patio lunches, retreat heart-to-hearts, singing practices, text messages, and coffee shops. And to my family of origin in Kentucky: your unwavering support has been my secure base. We’re tied by an invisible string, always, and I carry you with me into this next chapter.

More details (and that wild manifestation story!) soon. 🏡✨

I got to present at the annual HERO Club mini conference recently, on the topic of VALUES. We explored how our unique sets of values can shape our lives, contributing to meaning and contentment. The audience was so receptive and I loved getting to connect with community members!

Doing outreach work is so fulfilling to me. It touches into some of my top values: connection, growth, and contributing.

Not pictured and bonus: Ed & I got to sing for folks over the lunch hour. Also tapping into my values of creativity and fun!

Not sure what I was talking about in the last pic (zoomed in), but drop a funny guess in the comments below. 😉

Can I tell you how much I appreciate Megan? She’s just the best! So caring, so compassionate. She’s also creative, fun, smart and professional. Megan is highly dedicated to her clients and gets glowing reviews from the folks who are working with her. We’ve been having a wonderful experience co-leading group together too. I feel honoured to be her supervisor!

Megan has some openings in her schedule, so if you’ve been considering therapy, this is a great opportunity to work w a skilled clinician at a reduced rate!

Please share this with loved ones, as we want to help as many people as we can while we have Megan at PP&W!

Our first round of the 6-week group has been so well-received that we have expanded it into an 8-week series and are offering a second round, beginning April 2!

Group will be comprised of 6-8 members, and is co-led by myself, Dr. Amy Wendell, and practicum therapist Megan Secord, B.A..

Each session incorporates mindfulness, teaching on some relevant topic (e.g., self-compassion, trauma and the nervous system, boundaries, exploring personal values, etc.), applying this teaching to our own lives, and group processing/sharing.

What current members are saying about their experience in group:

It's allowing me to see that I am not alone in my struggles. You really never know all that another person is carrying. It's so nice to have a safe space to be real and share.

I'm getting in touch with and expressing feelings...after group I feel lighter and less alone.

I'm learning about valuable resources so that I can take this work further outside of group.

Taking time for myself in this way has been huge. It's a big step that signals I'm putting myself on the list. And that's a BIG deal.

If all of this resonates with you, we'd love to have you be part of this special group. Questions? Feel free to drop them below.

To inquire about registering, you can contact Amy directly via DM here, or email at info@parklandpsychology.com.

Nice to hear anxiety talked about and normalized by someone like this.

I like his example of befriending his anxiety, rather than attempting to push it away. Welcoming it, letting it have a seat at the table, and then watching it settle down and quiet.

It’s opposite of our instincts, but it really does work!

If you struggle w anxiety and want support and tools to manage it, reach out to us and we can help!

🎉 GROUP THERAPY! 🎉

Parkland Psychology & Wellness is offering a wonderful opportunity to take a deep dive into exploring our unique SELVES and also building meaningful connections with others.

🙋‍♀️Do you feel like you’ve lost touch with who you are, what brings you fulfillment, and the things that light you up inside?

🙋‍♀️Are you craving deeper, more meaningful relationships in your life? Or do you struggle with setting boundaries with others?

🙋‍♀️Do you have a hard time allowing yourself to be seen in relationships? Or letting yourself lean? Or being compassionate with yourself?

✅If you answered yes to any of these questions, this group could be a great fit for you!

Each week we will dive into a specific area of focus… Instead of “Oprah’s Favourite Things” these are “Amy’s Favourite Things!” 😉

Each session will include a teaching component, followed by an experiential/application to your own life component, and then we’ll all share with each other as a group, which will lead you to feel and understand that you are NOT ALONE in your struggles. ❤️

We’re all human, and part of being human is that life can be hard. But you’ll find connection along the way in this group, and that is healing and transformative. 🙏🏼
