Reiki: the gentle healing practice that is often misunderstood ✨

Many people are curious about Reiki but wonder…

Is it religious?
Is it just “woo woo”?
How does it actually work?

Let’s clear that up.

Reiki is not a religion. It does not require any belief system or spiritual doctrine. You do not need to be spiritual or even “believe in energy” for a Reiki session to feel supportive.

Reiki is a gentle wellness modality using light touch (or hands hovering above the body) to encourage relaxation, balance, and nervous system regulation.

I’m a deeply intuitive person and honour the spiritual side of life. ✨
I also love science. My practical brain likes receipts. 😉

Research shows Reiki supports the nervous system and activates the body’s relaxation response.

Many of us live in constant stress: rushing, overthinking, bracing for the next thing. This keeps the body in fight-or-flight mode.

During Reiki, breathing slows, muscles soften, heart rate settles, and the body shifts toward a parasympathetic state: rest, digest, repair.

When the body feels safe, it functions better.

❤️‍🩹 We all carry patterns that once served a purpose.

🗯️Old thoughts, habits, reactions, coping strategies, and even defense mechanisms that helped us navigate difficult seasons of life.

They may have even protected us then… but sometimes they begin to limit us now.

- Maybe it’s overthinking.
- People-pleasing.
- Self-doubt.
- Holding tension in the body.
- Expecting the worst.
- Staying small.
- Repeating the same emotional cycles.

These patterns are not failures—they are learned responses.

But they don’t have to become permanent identities. 💖

This is where Reiki and energy healing can be such a gentle support.

Healing doesn’t always require retelling every painful story or reopening every wound.

✨ Every bite you take is either feeding inflammation… or fighting it.

Inflammation isn’t always a bad thing (it’s part of your body’s natural defense), but chronic, low-grade inflammation?
That’s where we see fatigue, digestive issues, joint pain, skin flare-ups, hormone imbalance… and so much more.

What are we feeding… the fire, or the calm?
