Leone Genevieve (O'Connell) Campbell died peacefully on 27 May 2026, in Sackville NB.

Leone was born into a tight knit family in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, in 1937. The youngest of five; Regis (James MacLellan), Kathleen (Earl Verner), Kevin, Mary (Eddie Gallant) & Leone were born to Malcolm Francis O'Connell and Christina (O'Keefe) O'Connell. Leone was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and of her large network of O'Connell, MacKinnon, O'Keefe, Jamael and other cousins. She remained in close and loving contact with her extended family all their lives.

The family survived the depression, war and personal tragedies through the determination of Malcolm, a coal company plumber and master craftsman, and the faith of Christina, a saintly homemaker, at their house on Victoria St. and their beloved bungalow at East Bay, both built by Malcolm. Leone was a keen athlete with a lifelong love of skating, swimming and basketball; she surprised youngsters by sinking baskets well into her sixties.

Recurrent infections took her hearing in her childhood, but she read lips startlingly well, used powerful hearing aids, and filled in blanks with her strong intellect. In spite of her hearing loss she graduated from high school at age 15, immediately starting to teach large school classes herself, before her 16th birthday. She often remembered the joys and challenges of teaching, a career she pursued all her life. Between teaching, Leone progressively upgraded her license by attending St. Frances Xavier, Dalhousie, & St. Mary's, before eventually graduating from Mount Allison University. She wore her XRing with pride all her life.

While on a summer upgrading session at Dalhousie, Leone met Donald Roscoe Campbell, then a military musician but soon to be a banker. After a few years of dating, dancing & canoe adventures, they married in 1964. Don's banking career took them all over the maritimes. Douglas was born in Digby (1965); Arthur in Glace Bay (1967) and Barbara in Charlottetown (1970). The family had additional periods in Halifax, Lower Sackville NS, North Sydney NS and finally Sackville NB. At each move Leone immersed in the community, building lifelong friendships and interests at every stage.

Leone and Don had active social lives, revolving around their many interests. Her blunt Cape Breton friendliness extended to all including bank executives, bishops, lieutenant governors, naturalists, musicians, street people, wayward strays and drifting academics.

Leone had no tolerance for pretense; nothing and nobody intimidated her. She recounted a vast store of anecdotes and experiences with laughter and joy. There was always something delicious baking at home, and often interesting food, foraging and gardening experiments underway. She welcomed her children's friends and partners, with a penchant for blessing them before outings. Chaperoning high school dances, Don and Leone wowed the students with their ballroom skills.

Later in life Leone could indulge her lifelong love of travel and adventures with Don, including camping across Canada, multiple trips to Europe, and two years teaching in post-communist Poland. She had a beloved pilgrimage back to her ancestral Ireland with her surviving sisters Kathleen and Mary. Leone loved her house at 1 Charles St. in Sackville and became an active member of the Tantramar community, enjoying visits with her large circle of friends and family, young and old.

Leone is survived by Don, her devoted husband of 62 years; her children Douglas (Amanda Cockshutt), Arthur (Helen Marlais) & Barbara (Jason Hicks); her grandchildren Rosemary Cockshutt (Collin Brown), Malcolm Campbell, Maeve Cockshutt, Caitlin Hicks & Isabelle Hicks.

She loved, and was loved by, her nieces and nephews Eileen MacLellan, Louise Manna, Paul MacLellan, Lorna MacLellan, Christina MacLellan; Gregory (Ainslie) Verner, Geoffrey (Colleen) Verner, Estelle (Rick) Janega, Regis Verner; Shane MacDougall, Christina (David) MacDougall-Fleming; Charity (Jason) Buchanan; their children and grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) from where her Funeral Service will he held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 1:30 PM with Father Donald presiding.

Leone's family are grateful for her care at the Drew Nursing Home since her stroke in 2022. She faced paralysis with stoic courage and is now at peace. She ended every visit by telling us she loved us and we loved her.

Donations in memory of Leone can be made to the Nature Trust of New Brunswick.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend to many, Shirley May Oliver (Potter). Shirley was born in Digby, Nova Scotia in 1941 and passed away on May 24, 2026 in Kentville, Nova Scotia with her loving son by her side.

Shirley grew up the second of six siblings overlooking the rocky shoreline of the St Mary’s Bay in Plympton, Nova Scotia. From a young age, Shirley found her calling in caring for her younger siblings and solving problems big and small, which naturally led to a lifelong career in the Nursing profession. After graduating from Digby High School in 1959 she went on to attend Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing where she received the Cathedral prize for "greatest influence in elevating spirit of the school" and was awarded a scholarship for post graduate study in nursing teaching and clinical supervision at Dalhousie University. It was there she received her diploma in teaching and later completed her Bachelor of Nursing degree in 1969.

Shirley went on to have a long and distinguished career in the Nursing field for nearly 50 years. She held many roles including Head Nurse of the Emergency Department at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Head Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital in Saskatoon, Nursing Instructor at the School of Nursing in Moncton, and spent many fulfilling years in the later years of her career working as a manager for the Extra-Mural Program in Sackville, New Brunswick.

Shirley met her husband, Jim, in 1973 in a small pub in his hometown of Portmahomack, Scotland, just before he moved abroad. They kept in close contact over the next year before she made the move and joined him on his latest adventure in the small island of Papua New Guinea. They were married there in 1974 and she immersed herself in the diverse culture of the island, taking up work as a Nurse in the local High School. They enjoyed the next few years working and traveling together and eventually returned to Canada where they spent seven years in the province of Saskatchewan, making many friends and great memories along the way. In 1981, they returned to Shirley’s home province of Nova Scotia and their son Andrew was born in 1983. After many years of fulfilling work and travel experiences to all corners of the world, they moved to the village of Dorchester, New Brunswick in 1985 to pursue new work opportunities. Although they may have not known it at the time, Dorchester would become their family home for nearly 40 years where they were welcomed into the community and made many lifelong friendships. Shirley planted roots in both her local community and the healthcare community of southeastern New Brunswick. She had a zest for life and was someone who, once you met her, you could never forget.

After a long and fulfilling career she settled into retirement, making new friends in the community and saying hello to everyone she passed while walking her beloved dogs Roy and Bruce, sometimes several times a day. One of her greatest joys was becoming a grandmother - which she made known to all she spoke to. In the final years of her life, after tragically being diagnosed with dementia, she relocated to Nova Scotia with Jim to be closer to her son and his family. She had an incredible 85 years on this Earth and left a legacy that will not soon be forgotten. We will miss her deeply but have peace in knowing she did not suffer.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James Oliver, her son Andrew, his wife Brittany and her two grandchildren, Iain and Isla. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Langmaid, her brothers, John Potter, Michael (Lisa) Potter, Dan (Fiona) Potter, former sisters-in-law Patricia Potter and Ann Potter as well as many nieces and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by members of the Oliver clan in Scotland and further abroad. She is predeceased by her parents, Everett Keith Potter and Ruberta Potter, her brother Joseph Potter, sister-in-law Edith Potter and brother-in-law Sidney Langmaid.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB, (506-364-1300), where her funeral service will be celebrated on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 2 PM. Burial will take place at a later date.

For those who wish to do so, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home page.

It is with deep sorrow and loving hearts that the family of Chase Landry announces his passing, which occurred following an ATV accident on Friday, May 15, 2026.

On a cold December day, Chase was warmly welcomed into the world, instantly adored by his parents and placed under the watchful, protective eye of his big sister.

Chase was a lifelong resident of the Sackville area, a small town he always considered home. He spent his youth running wild and free around the Marsh, exploring Silver Lake, and tearing through the Cape with his siblings and cousins. It was here, under the guidance of his beloved "Papa" Winston, that Chase developed a deep, lifelong passion for fishing, quad-ding, and exploring nature. The woods and the waters were his sanctuary—the places where he felt most alive and entirely at peace.

A man of remarkable, instinctual talent, Chase had an ear for engines and a gift for taking things apart to see how they worked. Under the mentorship of his stepfather, Gerry, he grew into a skilled craftsman who could figure out the intricacies of any machine within minutes. Chase didn't just fix things; he had a passion for transforming broken, discarded items into something beautiful and useful, believing fully that with enough patience and care, anything could be restored to a new purpose.

Above all, Chase will be remembered for his playful, mischievous spirit, his ability to leave a room in stitches with his quick wit, and his huge, generous heart. Though he faced a heavy, years-long struggle with addiction, his worth was defined not by his battles, but by his capacity to love and the unwavering, unconditional support of his family—especially his mother, Brenda, who was his absolute rock. Chase passed away peacefully, falling into a forever sleep in the soft grass under a bright moon, surrounded by the trees and the wildlife he held so dear. He is finally free, resting without pain, and reunited in the embrace of his Papa Winston, Uncle Fred, Harold, and Stevie.

Chase leaves behind a large and deeply devoted family who will miss his laughter forever.

He is survived by his loving mother, Brenda Landry, and stepfather, Gerry Landry of Point de Bute; his father, Jacques Landry of Middle Sackville; and his cherished children, Aiden Parsons (and his mother, Stefanie), and Landon, Liam, and Nevaeh Landry (and their mother, Dorothy). He will be profoundly missed by his siblings: his big sister Amanda Zimmer (Adam) of Alberta; brother Tyler Sterling (Ashley) of Saskatchewan; sister Laura Landry of Moncton; brother Jeremy Landry (Sarah) of Sackville; sister Jessica Landry (Sean); sister Samantha Robichaud (Jessie) of Jolicure; and brother Adam Harvey of Middle Sackville. He is also survived by his beloved Nanny Oressa Sterling , as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

An Afternoon of Remembrance to celebrate Chase’s Life will be held at Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St. Sackville, NB on Monday, May 25, 2026 from 2 PM until 4 PM, all are invited to drop in.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Chase’s memory can be made to a local addiction support charity or wildlife conservation organization.
