It was an absolute pleasure for Brittney & Bailey to be presenting at the 2025 Calgary Breastfeeding Matters Group conference alongside the very impressive Jannette Festival from the Northern Star Milk bank and
Merilee Brockway, PhD.

Dr. Brockway who presented some very interesting findings on their research project on “Assessing the feasibility, efficacy and acceptability of Donor Human Milk supplementation in full-term infants” and it was fascinating seeing preliminary results between rates of supplementation following vaginal delivery & c/s, and the pattern of supplementation when families have access to formula vs pasteurized donor human milk.

One of my favorite moments was reconnecting with my own doula who supported our labor and postpartum journey with our first daughter. She helped normalize cluster feeding and allowed my postpartum feeding and sleep expectations be ready for that first week. Thanks Erin!

Well done City of St. Albert

The City of St. Albert is now providing free menstrual products in all public washrooms at St. Albert Place.

Period poverty affects everyone including families and friends of menstruators, non-binary, and transgender folks.

This is a pilot project to support inclusion and period equity in our city; if you'd like to provide feedback about the project, please take a brief survey online at:

Village Lactation is now re-open for new referrals to our office.

For timely access to care, please review this new referral form and ensure its proper completion when referring new families.

Referral process to Breastfeeding & Lactation Medicine Office
Appropriate for more complex breastfeeding concerns
Requires a referral for both parent & infant

Per CPSA, please do NOT refer to multiple Breastfeeding & Lactation Medicine specialists at one time. Edmonton Zone clinics include:
-Allin Clinic in Downtown Edmonton: 2 MDs - Dr. A. Berg & Dr. K. Robertson
-Indigenous Wellness Clinic in Downtown Edmonton: 1 MD - Dr. Jill Galipeau (for indigenous infant and/or parent)
-Misericordia Breastfeeding Clinic in West Edmonton: 1 MD - Dr. A. Berg
-Willow Family Medicine in South Edmonton: 2 MDs - Dr. K. MacGregor & Dr. T. Shuman

Ensure families understand wait times and this is a medical specialist’s office.

Families may still benefit from the support of a professional lactation consultant (list in our closure email) and/or trained peer support such as LLLC.ca

Thank you for your ongoing support for breastfeeding and lactating families.

12/11/2024

Please be advised that due to high volume of referrals and excessive wait times, Village Lactation has made the challenging decision to temporarily close to referrals for Breastfeeding & Lactation Medicine care for the remainder of 2024. We hope to reopen to referrals in the first quarter of 2025 and will share an update on our website.

Pending Referrals - Families that have already been accepted by our office prior to Monday December 9th will continue to be triaged based on medical complexity of the dyad and scheduled as we are able accommodate.
If you haven’t my scheduled yet but you were contacted by our office that your referral was received, please rest assured you remain on our list.
