Offering clients effective, alternative wellness solutions for their health and healing.
Hi, my name is Irma Schuur, I have been privileged to have witnessed the healing and overall improvements in wellness of many clients for over the past 15 years. This continues to inspire me to seek new ways to assist my clients in facilitating their own healing. Even after so many years, I can honestly say that I love and am passionate about what I do and it is my hope that it reflects in every treatment.
Equilibrium Reflexology takes pride in providing quality, professional Reflexology and other holistic services such as: Reiki, Crystal Healing, Myofascial Cupping, Raindrop Essential Oil Treatment, Touch For Health, Indian Head Massage and more. As a practitioner and owner of Equilibrium Reflexology, I commit myself to ensuring that I meet the high standards I place on training/continued education, experience and quality, trustworthy customer service. I offer unique, signature treatments for deep relaxation as well as therapeutic, integrative treatments that focus on positively addressing a client's individual health concerns and wellness objectives. Special attention and care is given in developing a supportive relationship with each person, inspiring trust and confidence with each treatment to facilitate a healing balance in my client's lives.
"I found my reflexology sessions with Equilibrium's, Irma Schuur to be a profoundly relaxing and healing experience. I would recommend it to anyone seeking relaxation and stress reduction as those individuals working on more specific health concerns or conditions. Reflexology treatments can be tailored to address imbalances in specific organ systems or more acute conditions such as headaches and muscular tension. The combination of aromatherapy oils, heat and sound therapy used has direct effects on the central nervous system, helping to shift its activity from stress induced sympathetic dominance to a more parasympathetic response. This shift is conducive to producing a restorative cycle in the body and can aid in the healing of a wide variety of health concerns."
~ Dr. David Vojtisek, B.Sc., N.D.
"It has been a long time since the impact of stress on health has been discussed and researched. Chronic ongoing stress negatively and cumulatively affects our body in a physical and psychological manner. In preventing disease, the best strategy is to minimize as much stress as possible as well as changing your beliefs, attitudes and perceptions. While such changes will take time, a reflexology treatment gives immediate relief from life's daily stresses."
~ Dr. Aki Kawai, B.Pharm,. N.D.
Everyone has a story...
How you got to where you are today in regards to your health is your story. Likewise, how I got to being here today, as a practitioner is mine. The beginning of my story began with my first certification in Foot Reflexology at the Universal College of Reflexology (taught by two amazing teachers, Lauren Slade and Jack Marriott) then being involved in a car accident followed by the realization that being an administrative assistant was not purpose in life....in that order.
I started my journey at Action Chiropractic in the Mira Health Center on the north side of Edmonton where I treated clients ful time for 5 years, from there it was Select Health Center a Naturopathic clinic. Somewhere in between I did received more certifications for other holistic health modalities, did mobile treatments to various locations including hospitals, senior living homes and my share of trade shows. I often volunteered my services to local events, donated to many silent auctions for various and worthwhile causes, was offered a position to teach Reflexology at Grant MacEwan Community College (at the time it was for the Holistic Program) and also treated from a small, south side day spa. More recently provided treatments at the Water Garden Spa and and Wellness Retreat at the Lois Hole Enjoy Center in St. Albert. But I much prefer where I find myself today, which is working out of my home where I can pass the savings of working from the home onto my clients. The home environment offers a quite space for me to treat my clients, allowing me the flexibility of time I dedicate to each client, as well as maintain my high standards of cleanliness and a stress free environment. Everywhere I have worked taught me so much and shaped me as a practitioner. At this point I could list all the certifications however, they are available in my notes section on my page and I don't want to be redundant.
Over the years, I have gained experience in treating many different ailments and maladies from the physical, emotional to the energetic. Among the most common are foot issues from Gout to Plantar Fasciitis and pretty much everything in between. I have also treated clients who suffer from sinus and allergy treatments, chronic headaches/ migraines, auto immune issues, lymphatic concerns, neurological related conditions as well as cancer. Each new case that is presented to me I see as an opportunity for learning and gaining new knowledge that I can apply in my treatments to make them even more effective.
Part of my success with helping clients is not just listening to what they have to say, but by understanding all that is in between the personal account of their story and how they got to being where they are in their current state of health.
Now that you have heard my story, let me hear yours!
