Local massage therapy & acupuncture clinic Albert, AB. We are proud to serve families from the St.

Refined Massage Therapy is a locally-owned, newly modernized massage clinic, located in the prestigious Perron District of St. Albert and Edmonton communities. At Refined Massage Therapy, we specialize in clinical massage treatments, but provide the warm and relaxing environment associated with a spa. Whether your visit is intended to treat a specific muscle/injury, or is purely for relaxation, o

ur goal is to give you the most “Refined” and stress-free experience, tailored specifically to your needs. The atmosphere of the room, the customization of your treatment, and the trusting and open relationship with your therapist, are only some of the ways in which we “Refine” your experience. Treatments are scheduled 30 minutes apart to eliminate unnecessary ‘rushing’, allowing ample time for therapists to provide you with an effective massage treatment, conduct valuable post-consultation and debriefing, complete checkout, and prepare for their next client without having to cut into your treatment time. The massage experience provided will be comprehensive, effective, simple, and convenient! We take much pride in promoting our location as a ‘massage specialized clinic’, dedicating our time to massage and massage alone. The absence of messy/complicated membership fees and obligations, the convenience of direct billing with most insurance benefit companies, and an easy online booking option, make the entire process very clean and simple. Our goal will always be to further optimize and “Refine” the clinical massage experience, making you feel as if you are getting treated in the comfort of your own home. Thank you for considering us as your massage destination. We look forward to meeting you and your family!

The Summer Solstice marks the height of Yang energy — warmth, expansion, and peak vitality! In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Summer is connected to the Heart and Small Intestine, organs that support our circulation, emotional balance, and joy.

How to Stay Balanced This Summer:

💧 Stay hydrated — Sip on room-temperature water , electrolytes, and cooling herbal teas like peppermint and chrysanthemum.

🥗 Eat light and fresh — Incorporate hydrating, cooling foods like cucumber, watermelon, tomatoes, and leafy greens.

💖 Nourish the Heart — Connect with loved ones, laugh freely, and express joy. Emotional balance supports heart health.

🌞 Be active but mindful — Exercise in the early morning or evening when it's cooler to avoid overheating.

🧘‍♂️ Rest and recharge — Balance Summer’s active energy with moments of rest.

Spring Equinox: A Season to Reawaken and Renew

As Spring arrives, the longer days and brighter sunshine call us to reawaken and grow. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Spring symbolizes new beginnings — a time to release stagnant energy, expand on dreams, and embrace growth.

This season is connected to the Liver and Gallbladder, organs responsible for the smooth flow of Qi (energy) in the body. After the quieter, reflective months of Winter, our Liver energy may feel a little stuck. This can show up as irritability, frustration, headaches, and even allergies. It’s your body’s way of saying it's time for a gentle reset!

Support Your Liver Qi with These Spring Practices:

🤸 Get moving — Exercise and sweating help detoxify the liver and release tension. It's the perfect time to start a regular movement routine.
🥦 Eat green and sour foods — Fresh leafy greens like broccoli, asparagus, and kale, along with sour foods like fermented veggies and rhubarb, help activate and nourish the Liver.
💧 Stay hydrated — Start your day with warm lemon water to support gentle detoxification.
🌸 Release stagnant emotions — Journal, meditate, or talk through your feelings to clear emotional blockages.
💆 Prioritize stress relief — Acupuncture, massage, reflexology and deep breathing techniques can help ease the burden on your Liver.

Spring is your invitation to detoxify, refresh, and expand into your fullest potential.

Acupuncture can be a wonderful way to support your seasonal transition and keep your Liver energy balanced.

Deep Tissue Vs Deep Pressure : What's the difference?

Deep tissue massage and deep pressure massage are similar in that they both involve applying firm pressure to the body, but they have some key differences:

DEEP TISSUE
1. Technique: Deep tissue massage primarily focuses on specific muscle groups and uses slow, deliberate strokes to target deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.

2. Purpose: Deep tissue massage is typically used to address chronic muscle tension, muscle injuries, and musculoskeletal issues. It aims to soften up adhesions and knots in muscles to promote pain relief and increased range of motion.

3. Pressure: Deep tissue massage involves deep pressure, but it doesn't necessarily require constant, intense pressure. The therapist will adjust the pressure based on the client's comfort and needs.

4. Pain Level: Deep tissue massage can sometimes be uncomfortable, especially when targeting specific problem areas. However, the discomfort should not make you tense up or hold your breath.

DEEP PRESSURE
Deep pressure massage simply refers to applying firm pressure during a massage without the specific focus on deep layers of muscle tissue. This type of massage can be customized to the client's preference, and it may not necessarily involve the techniques and goals of deep tissue massage. Deep pressure massage can be a good option for relaxation and stress relief without the intense muscle work associated with deep tissue massage.

It is essential to communicate your preferences and any specific issues with your massage therapist, as they can tailor the massage to your needs, whether you want deep tissue work or simply deep pressure for relaxation.

Sound Therapy : A must for a truly amazing meditative and deep healing experience.

For centuries, cultures around the world have harnessed the power of sound for healing. From the mantras of the Hindus, to the Icaros of Indigenous peoples in Central and South America, to Pythagoras’ use of frequency and intervals, these techniques aim to restore balance to our bodies and minds.

Why Sound Healing?
Every object, including our body, has its own natural vibratory rate—known as resonance. Stress, anxiety, and negative emotions can disrupt this harmony, creating imbalance. Sound healing provides a nurturing environment that helps restore these imbalances, bringing us back to our natural state of equilibrium.

How It Works
Sound therapy uses entrainment to shift brainwave states. By syncing fluctuating brainwaves with stable frequencies, we can move from the active beta state (waking consciousness) to more relaxed states like alpha, theta (meditative), and delta (sleep), where deep healing occurs.

The vibrations and tones of the crystal bowls slow down breathing, brain waves, and heart rates, producing a deep sense of calm and well-being. Just like meditation uses breath to calm the mind, sound frequencies guide this transformation.

Additional Benefits
Sound healing has shown potential benefits for a wide range of concerns, including:
• Sleep disorders
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Stress management
• PTSD
• Pain management

Each sound bath is a unique experience, designed specifically for those participating. Guided meditations help relax, ground, and deepen your connection to the healing properties of sound, especially through the powerful vibrations of quantum alchemy crystal singing bowls.

You can schedule a sound bath as a stand-alone session or combined with massage therapy with our Sound Healing Therapist Kathleen.

Behind the Logo: The Story of Refined Health & Wellness

Our logo is more than just a name—it’s a reflection of our philosophy. You might have noticed that the second "e" in *Refined* is rendered in a grey tone. This design choice is intentional, highlighting the dual meaning behind our brand.

✨ Refined: We believe in the art of improvement—whether it's refining our processes or enhancing your client experience. Our goal is to perfect every aspect, from the meticulous care in our treatments to the seamless, soothing journey you have with us. Like the purest forms of design, we aim to strip away the unnecessary and focus on what truly matters: your well-being.

✨ Re-find: Life can be overwhelming, and sometimes we lose sight of our balance. The "re-find" aspect of our logo symbolizes our commitment to helping you rediscover your sense of wellness, balance, and well-being through our services. It suggests a journey back to a state of health or harmony, guiding you to reconnect with the best version of yourself.

Our logo embodies these two paths—refinement and rediscovery. At Refined Health & Wellness, it’s all about helping you find your way back to a healthier, more balanced you.

✨ Rest is not the absence of activity, but the presence of peace ✨

At Refined Health & Wellness, we believe that rest isn't just about taking a break—it's about finding peace within, even in the midst of life's busyness.

True rest happens when your mind, body, and spirit are in harmony. Here are a few ways to find that peace within:

🌸 **Breathe mindfully** – Slow, deep breaths can instantly calm your nervous system and center your mind.

🌿 **Move gently** – Stretching or a short walk helps release tension and brings awareness back to your body.

💆 **Seek balance** – Holistic treatments like massage, acupuncture, and manual osteopathy help realign your body and bring peace from the inside out.

🧘‍♀️ **Be present** – Take a moment each day to pause, reflect, and appreciate the now. Let go of the need to be productive every moment.

Finding inner peace is a practice, and each step helps you cultivate a deeper sense of calm and balance.
