Chaga! Scored a little piece on a really old birch tree.
Chaga can be simmered with water to make a tea that is said to be an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory, antiviral and possibly anticancer properties.
Chaga is a fungus that grows on birch trees and when used to make tea can also help with digestive issues as well.
Simple recipe: take a chunk about this size and fill a huge crock pot with water and simmer ( do not boil) for 6 to 8 hrs. Take fungus out and save to reuse. You will have a dark flavored tea that holds healing properties. Drink hot or cold over a few days. Add maple syrup if you have a sweet tooth. Pro tip: let the chunk of chaga dry on the window sill and use it again for another batch when your ready. Keep reusing until it no longer provides a dark tea. This size could yield at least 3 batches.
