Marsha Grantham, our Director of Speech-Language Pathology, brings warmth, experience, and a deep love for helping kids thrive. With a Master’s degree, Ontario teaching certification, and her role as an Associate Clinical Professor at McMaster, she leads with heart and expertise.

Co-founder Mary Jane Grantham brings the business brains and the fun! She has a passion for supporting kids and families and specializes in making foundational reading skills engaging and effective.

Together, they make Reading Gym a place where learning feels good—and works.

I wish more parents and teacher knew about Embedded Picture Mnemonics. AKA sneaking a picture of a word that starts with the same sound the letter makes behind the letter.
For example; a Fish behind the letter F.

There are SO many reasons why we love these, but the main one is that it is easy to remember and fun for kids learning the basics of phonics and reading.

Without a solid foundation, how is a child supposed to be able to sound out a word?

When kids just "don't wanna," here's some ideas to mix it up👇

1️⃣ Keep reading activities small — just 15 minutes a day! Little chunks lead to big progress!
2️⃣ Make it fun! Get them moving and play the games WITH them. Don’t just hand them tracer sheets or a tablet. Learning should feel like playtime!
3️⃣ Start with a solid foundation in letters and the sounds they make. That’s the building block for everything!
4️⃣ Include rewards and always end on a positive note. Celebrate their progress, no matter how small!
