The Association of Ontario Midwives is calling on the Ministry of Health to implement recommendations made by an independent third-party Mediator to treat midwives comparably to other health professions--or risk losing them.

In her report, the Mediator, Beverly Mathers, recommended that midwives receive similar redress provided to physicians, nurses and other public sector workers to make up for the province's unconstitutional compensation restraint legislation and policies.

The report states that "... there is no mathematical equation that puts Ontario's midwives anywhere but further behind economically" because of the Ministry's compensation restraints.

Our lab at Brock University is currently looking for mothers and their babies (8–12 months) to take part in a research study exploring how babies’ everyday environments support their cognitive and social development.

Participation includes online questionnaires and a short visit to Brock University, and families can receive up to $50 in Amazon gift cards as a thank you.

Oh, boy! 💙

Rachel McColeman and her partner Robert welcomed their baby boy, Rory, at 3:26 a.m. on New Year’s Day, making him the first baby born at NH in 2026.

Weighing just over four kilograms, Rory arrived wide-eyed and ready to ring in the new year. Congratulations to the growing family! 👶🎉
