💙Is your teen active… but always slouching? 🤔
You’re not imagining it.💙

Between sports, school, and screen time, many teens are developing postural habits that don’t match their level of activity.

➡️ Forward head posture
➡️ Rounded shoulders
➡️ Neck & upper back or mid to lower back strain

Even active teens may notice:
• Neck/back discomfort
• Reduced mobility
• Muscle fatigue
• Changes in breathing
• Decreased performance

📵 Screen time isn’t going anywhere—but how we use it matters. Simple shifts help:
• Screens at eye level
• Regular movement breaks
• Balance screen time with movement
• Train postural muscles too

đź’™ When Your Brain Feels Cloudy: Which Fats Actually Help? đź’™

Brain fog is one of the most common things I hear about—and one of the most misunderstood.

There are days when your brain just… doesn’t cooperate. You reread the same sentence three times. Words feel slow to come. Focus slips through your fingers. You might call it “brain fog,” but whatever the label, it’s frustrating—and often a signal, not a flaw.

While there are many reasons this can happen (stress, sleep, hormones, blood sugar, inflammation), one often-overlooked piece is fat quality.

Your brain is nearly 60% fat. The types of fat you eat can either support clarity and resilience—or quietly contribute to that foggy, sluggish feeling.

And while supplements can help…the type matters. Omega 3’s are vital, but there are other types of fat that are just as important! And hormones are made from fat...so if you’re in a hormonally changeable time, this will matter to you.

This is where a lot of people get stuck:
taking the right thing for the wrong pattern.

If this resonated, or you’re trying to piece together your own pattern, that’s exactly the work we do in practice. More about it on the blog this month!

🌿 Dr. Natalie is now accepting new patients — with availability in May!

Did you know Vitamin D plays a key role in fertility and pregnancy outcomes?

Research shows:
✨ Vitamin D supplementation may improve pregnancy rates

✨ It can support ovulation, especially in women with PCOS

✨ Higher Vitamin D levels are linked to increased live birth rates and lower miscarriage risk

📊 Some findings:
• Every 2.5 nmol/L increase in Vitamin D = ~2% increase in live birth rate
• Levels above 112 nmol/L → up to 4x higher live birth rates
• Levels below 75 nmol/L → 44% reduction in live birth rates
• Levels above 95 nmol/L → 82% lower risk of miscarriage

Fertility is complex and multifactorial, but optimizing key nutrients like Vitamin D can make a meaningful difference.

If you’re trying to conceive or looking for support on your fertility journey, start with a comprehensive prenatal screen.

đź’™ Did you know your thyroid plays a key role in fertility and pregnancy? đź’™

Your thyroid hormones help regulate ovulation, implantation, and early fetal development. Even mild imbalances can make it harder to conceive or increase the risk of complications in early pregnancy.

That’s why a complete thyroid screen is an important step when:
- You’re trying to conceive
- You’re newly pregnant
-You’re feeling fatigued, anxious, or having irregular cycles

A thorough thyroid panel often includes:

â—Ź TSH
â—Ź Free T4 and Free T3
● Thyroid antibodies (TPO & TgAb) — to assess for autoimmune thyroiditis

Balancing your thyroid before and during pregnancy helps:
- Support ovulation and cycle regularity
- Reduce miscarriage risk
- Support healthy brain development in baby

If you’re preparing for pregnancy or IVF, this simple test can make a big difference.
Ask our fertility focused naturopathic doctor about a fertility-focused thyroid assessment.

💙 Swelling in pregnancy is common—but that doesn’t mean you need to just tolerate the discomfort. 💙

As your body changes, increased fluid volume, posture shifts, and pressure through the pelvis can contribute to swollen feet, ankles, hands, and feelings of heaviness.

Osteopathy offers gentle hands-on treatment that may help support:
• Circulation
• Mobility
• Pelvic and rib cage movement
• Lower body comfort
• Overall ease through pregnancy

Treatment is always adapted to your stage of pregnancy and comfort level.

If you’re feeling swollen, heavy, or uncomfortable, osteopathy may be a helpful part of your prenatal support team.

🩵Your nervous system is not separate from your body—it’s embedded in it 💙

So when there are physical restrictions in the body, it can influence how efficiently things function at a physiological level.

That’s the core idea behind osteopathy:

structure dictates function

When movement, mobility, or tissue tension changes… the body adapts.
Sometimes that adaptation is helpful.
Sometimes it becomes less efficient over time.

Osteopathy works with those patterns—not to treat conditions, but to support better overall function and regulation in the system.

Because when the body is moving with more ease…
it often functions with more ease too.

đź’™ Jaw pain from grinding or clenching your teeth? đź’™

You’re not alone.

Tension in the jaw can lead to discomfort, clicking, headaches, and difficulty chewing—especially for those dealing with TMJ/TMJD. While mouth guards help protect your teeth, they don’t address the root cause of the tension.

Acupuncture offers a natural way to relieve jaw pain by:
• Releasing tight muscles and trigger points
• Improving circulation and reducing stagnation
• Supporting the body’s natural healing process

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, jaw tension is often linked to stress or dietary factors. By targeting the underlying imbalance, acupuncture helps restore the body to a more relaxed, healthy state.

Cupping may also be used to enhance blood flow and further relieve tension in the area.

đź’™Most people are told their pain is coming from a single structure.

A disc. A joint. A muscle.

But the body doesn’t work like that.

From an osteopathic perspective, a herniated disc is often part of a larger compensation pattern—not just an isolated injury.

Your hips, pelvis, ribcage, breathing, and even daily habits all influence how your spine is loaded over time.

So instead of asking:
“What’s wrong with my back?”

We ask:
👉 “What is my body adapting to?”

That shift changes everything about how we approach recovery.

You’re not broken—your body is responding.

And when we support the whole system, things start to change.

đź’™ The best treatment plan is the one that actually adapts to you đź’™

Your body doesn’t show up the same way every day, so your care shouldn’t either. That’s why I prioritize active listening—taking the actual time to understand how you’re feeling, what’s shifted since I saw you last, and what your body specifically needs today.

Chiropractic care isn’t just about chasing a single spot of pain; it’s about how your whole body moves together. Some days, that means a hands-on adjustment. Other days, we might focus more on movement or just helping your nervous system reset so you feel like yourself again.

Real care isn’t a routine you’re put through. It’s a partnership built around you. 🤍

Let me know if there is anything else you need from me!

đź’™Still having headaches weeks after a concussion? đź’™

If your concussion happened weeks ago but you’re still dealing with headaches, you’re not alone—and it doesn’t mean something is “seriously wrong.”

What most people aren’t told is this:
👉 Not all post-concussion headaches are coming from your brain.

After a concussion, your neck, jaw, thoracic spine and even your nervous system can stay irritated—especially if there was any whiplash or tension involved.

This can lead to:
• Persistent headaches
• Neck stiffness or tightness
• Pressure behind the eyes and nose
• Dizziness or brain fog

And I’ll share this because I’ve been there myself 🤍

After my own concussion, the headaches lingered way longer than I expected. I tried to wait it out… but nothing changed.

Osteopathy was the only thing that actually helped me start to feel like myself again.
So if you’ve been told to “just wait it out” but nothing is improving… there’s usually more going on.

The good news?
These symptoms are often very treatable with the right approach.

You don’t have to push through it or accept it as your new normal.

If this sounds like you, I’m here to help 🤍
