Vacation day find! 🍫

The summer went by so fast! I decided to take a couple of vacation days & my husband and I enjoyed Niagara-on-the-lake and some local wineries. We have the luxury of being 15 minutes away from some beautiful vineyards! 🍇

We stopped by a candy store, and this box of chocolate jumped out at me! This is the best medicine, in my opinion! (Along with wine, of course!) 🍷

Road trip to North York (Toronto) today to teach CPR & BLS courses in dental offices! 🛤🚙🦷

I had a great assistant today. My oldest daughter Gracie joined me for the road trip! This is one of the best parts of working for myself (at one of my jobs) having the flexibility to spend quality time with family while doing what I love! 🥰

A PROUD & HAPPY POST: 😊🚑

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of teaching an Emergency First Aid & CPR course to a new client; Ridgeway-Crystal Beach Kin Club.

I received a wonderful message from the event manager of the Kin club, thanking me for giving him the skills required for a First Aid situation. A couple of weeks after he attended my course, he witnessed an emergency situation (while shopping) & he was able to take over and help this customer.

I received a thank you email and a full description of the First Aid steps used in this situation. I LOVED reading this email and was proud that he utilized the skills taught in class!

I'm so grateful that this story was shared with me, and it makes me so happy to know that he was prepared and able to respond.

Fun fact: 🚑

In Ontario, dental offices are required to have E-size portable cylinder oxygen tanks available as part of their emergency medical equipment.

These tanks should be stored properly (on a stand or chained against a wall), stored away from heat & open flames.

Inspections and calibrations should take place annually to ensure safety and proper functioning.

In BLS training, we cover the basics of the oxygen tank while practicing our BVM skills. These oxygen tanks should be equipped with regulators and a flowmeter. Connectors, tubing, and the reservoir bags connect to the cylinder to a full face mask for resuscitation. 😷

While teaching courses in dental offices, I try to cover all possible emergencies that could arise in the office. We have the option of practicing CPR in the dental chairs as well as discussing all emergency drugs required by the College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. 🦷

My mobile business sometimes provides courses in a wider area, adding a few hours to my days.
On sunny, beautiful Fridays like today, driving an hour or two away is the best way to end my week. 🤗

I recertifed a small dental team on the weekend in Niagara-on-the-lake.

Being a mobile Instructor/Training partner, I travel to your home or business. The amount of equipment I bring depends on the size of the class. I traveled light this course. 😊

Classes range from 3 students to 18 students. The offices/businesses I travel to are from the Niagara region to Hamilton, Burlington, Waterloo, and sometimes even Toronto. (and cities in between)

The Accadia sisters traveled to Portugal together! 🇵🇹

My husband and I spent Easter weekend in Lisbon with my sister & brother-in-law. Being a first-generation Canadian (maternal side), this has always been on my list of places to travel! 🌏✈️

While exploring the beautiful city, I came across this defibrillator
In Praça Luís de Camões a historical landmark. This AED was located outside in the square. It was so nice to see this setup in another country while traveling!

I feel so blessed to have experienced this with my sister. 🥰

The team at Ivory Dental Studio was recertifed in BLS (first responder CPR)!

The office offers resources you don't find in dental offices such as the SleepImage system. This system is an FDA-cleared software medical device (SaMD) that measures sleep quality, diagnoses sleep apnea, and manages sleep disorder breathing. The office allows patients to borrow this device and is an alternative to attending a sleep apnea clinic!

Offices like Ivory Dental Studio, are one of a kind and I'm grateful to return year after year for recertification! 😊🦷

I had the privilege of visiting the Village Dental Hygienist clinic again and recertifed these wonderful hygienists in BLS! 🦷

Tracy's clinic is located in Waterdown and is an independent dental hygiene clinic that delivers a holistic approach in all aspects of the treatments provided. They also use all plant based products. The atmosphere is so welcoming and bright! 🩷 🪴

Village Dental Hygienists Clinic is the only clinic in Waterdown that uses Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) to clean your teeth. This system removes biofilm (plaque), stains, and early tarter on your natural teeth. This is also safe to use on orthodontic appliances, restorations (fillings), and implants!

My handsome boy (pictured on the left) is happy his Mom was trained in Dog & Cat First Aid & CPR! 🐕🐈‍⬛

I signed up for an online course a few months back with The Canadian Red Cross, and I finally had time to complete it.

This was a great information session for both dogs & cats on:

- checking ABCs (vitals). 🩺
-CPR for cats & dogs (large & small breeds).
-different types of strokes & how to identify and treat them.
-how to care for bleeding.🩹
-choking for cats & dogs (depending on the breeds/sizes the different methods).

Continuing education has always been very important to me. In the Accadia 1st household, we have 1 dog & 2 cats, so this definitely was a great course to take!
