Alicia Richardson is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) currently completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Social Psychology from McMaster University. Prior to her clinical training, Alicia worked in a healthcare setting providing emotional support and companionship to older adults. In this role, she supported individuals navigating life transitions, including grief, anxiety, and health-related changes. This experience deepened her appreciation for empathy, connection, and the importance of meeting individuals where they are. Alicia is committed to creating a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where clients feel supported in exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. She believes that healing begins with self-compassion rather than self-judgment, and that meaningful change can occur when individuals feel truly seen and understood. In her clinical work, Alicia supports individuals aged 10 and older, including adolescents and adults, who are experiencing concerns such as anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, depression, life transitions, and relational challenges. She recognizes that beginning therapy can feel unfamiliar or intimidating and strives to foster a collaborative and comfortable environment, tailoring her approach to each client’s unique needs. Her therapeutic approach is integrative, incorporating elements of Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
