Subject: FIRE – Update #4 & Year-End Message

As we wrap up the year, we want to take a moment to say thank you. Your support, trust, and loyalty throughout 2025 have genuinely meant the world to us. Serving you and being part of your healthy living journey remain a privilege we do not take lightly.

From all of us at LIVA Health, we wish you a holiday season filled with warmth, rest, good food, laughter, and meaningful moments with the people you love. May the New Year bring renewed health, happiness, and new milestones—both personal and health- and wellness-related.

As of today, our building remains under structural review and repair, and all tenants have been temporarily required to vacate while this vital work continues. Thanks to the incredible efforts of our long-time contractor, John, and trusted partners, we are navigating this process as smoothly and safely as possible. We will be relocating before Christmas to a temporary space that combines office and warehouse facilities. This will allow us to carefully organize and assess our contents and continue operations. At the same time, every effort is made to resume patient and client treatment visits following 26 years of dedicated service as a sole proprietor and owner-operator of a Chiropractic & interdisciplinary practice.

While this transition presents logistical challenges, it also opens the door to future improvements in how we serve you. Please know that we remain fully committed to your care and are deeply grateful for your patience, understanding, and support as we enter this next chapter.

As we move forward, we do so with faith, gratitude, and trust that God is guiding each step—holding our community, our space, and our shared journey in His care.

Subject: Update on LIVA Health — Continued Care and Clinic Office Restoration

Dear Patients, Clients, and Community,

As many of you have heard, a significant fire occurred in the early hours of December 6th at our LIVA Centre location (437 Welland Avenue). While our clinic space sustained extensive damage, we are profoundly grateful that no one was injured. Our heartfelt thanks go to the St. Catharines and Niagara‑on‑the‑Lake fire crews for their professionalism, swift action, and steadfast care in keeping everyone safe.

We would also like to recognize our own Gayle and her husband for their extraordinary courage that morning. Upon meeting the fire response team, Gayle carefully opened the doors, smelt smoke, and guided firefighters into the building, whom thought perhaps she was smelling smoke from downtown. At the same time outside, smoke became visible through the eavestroughs, inside they now felt how hot doors on second floor were, to which she was quickly moved to safety — an act that likely prevented even greater damage! For nearly 15 years, Gayle has been the heart of our clinic, and in this moment she once again showed her dedication to our patients, colleagues, and community. We are deeply grateful for both her vigilance and her service.

The extent of the damage means restoration will take several months. The City of St. Catharines continues to work closely with engineers and investigators to determine the full scope of the repairs and confirm when it will be safe to reopen. While the cause has not been officially confirmed, early indications suggest a portable, battery‑operated light fixture on the second floor may have been involved. We remain fully compliant with all safety reviews and recommendations as the investigation continues.

Throughout this period, our commitment to our patients and clients remains unwavering. Efforts are underway to secure a temporary space. Please kindly disregard any automated appointment reminders until systems are fully restored; email remains the most reliable way to reach us.

City of St. Catharines is awaiting structural engineer approval; the site remains closed until safety is verified! Today, more reality is sinking in about how horrible the situation is. By midday, sadly, they pumped the brakes as the superstar after-hours teams began handing over to regular business-hour crews! Expect today to be like day 1. Please wake me up from this nightmare!

We appreciate your concern and offers to help more than we can say; we are truly grateful. To help dispel assumptions, innuendos, gossip and unkind comments, please know that the exact cause of the fire has not been officially determined and possibly never known with 100% certainty.​

At this time, it appears highly probable that the fire was related to a battery‑operated light fixture in which the battery itself ignited, but this has not been confirmed as the final cause.

Rest assured, all due diligence, investigation, and safety reviews are underway, and we are following every recommendation provided to us.​

Thank you for keeping everyone affected in your thoughts and for the kindness and patience you continue to show as we move through this devastating process together.

🔥Update on the LIVA Centre Fire🔥
Early this morning, a fire broke out at the LIVA Centre (437 Welland Ave). Thanks to the quick response of fire crews, the situation is now under control, the building is secured, and mitigation work is underway.🛡

At 3:16 a.m., fire crews were dispatched after an alarm activation. Smoke was later found coming from the eavestrough, and firefighters located the source on the second floor. They remained on scene for several hours, and the Fire Inspector began the formal investigation around 7:20 a.m.

By 2:00 p.m., the building was turned back over to us to begin remediation. No one is permitted to enter until engineering and safety assessments are complete.

A heartfelt 🥺 thank you to the St. Catharines and Niagara-on-the-Lake fire crews and the Fire Inspector for their leadership, professionalism and kindness.

🤝And thank you to everyone for your patience and encouragement as we work through this large loss.

🚨For your safety,🚨 please do not enter the building.🚫

New study n=17.2K found that high Systemic Immune-Inflammatory Index is associated with large effect sizes to have low back pain. The index score is calculated from a standard Complete Blood Count (CBC) to measure body-wide inflammation.

People with higher levels of inflammation in their blood were 66% more likely to suffer from low back pain! The link was strongest in young adults (ages 20–40). In this group, high inflammation doubled the risk of back pain.😮
