Gift-giving can feel good. But sometimes, it’s a trauma response.

When this happens, it takes away from how meaningful a gift can be and all the feel-good benefits that come with it.

This season, we’re looking into moving away from excessive gift-giving as a trauma response and leaning into gift-giving as a tool for healing, authentic connection, and fostering healthy relationships that center generosity, gratitude, and empathy.

Take a deeper dive on our blog and get some practical tips to help you navigate this season with intentionality.

As you prepare your breakfast, think of others
(do not forget the pigeon’s food).
As you conduct your wars, think of others
(do not forget those who seek peace).
As you pay your water bill, think of others
(those who are nursed by clouds).
As you return home, to your home, think of others
(do not forget the people of the camps).
As you sleep and count the stars, think of others
(those who have nowhere to sleep).
As you liberate yourself in metaphor, think of others
(those who have lost the right to speak).
As you think of others far away, think of yourself
(say: “If only I were a candle in the dark”).

- Mahmoud Darwish, Palestinian poet and writer.

As we commemorate Eid this year, we think of others, especially those who live under life threatening conditions. We wish them safety.

May we all be able to live and love in liberation soon.

Our Story

We are a multicultural private counselling practice focused on holistic wellness and healing through feminist and trauma-centered practices. The vision of this practice started for me at a young age, when I instinctively set myself on the path of my life's purpose. As a result, I realized with time that I strongly value collaboration, community building, and wellness. From this perspective comes my life's purpose of standing by others, as others stood by me along my journey. I bring this perspective to my work across various therapeutic contexts through the vehicle of counselling. I truly live in passion and joy when I'm able to help a person gain insight, change behavior through kindness to themselves, and strive to be their best selves. We are all a work in progress, and we all need a helping hand in one way or another every now and then. I'm thrilled to bring this service with respect and dignity to our community.
