A message for those with no experience with children with autism…

What may look unusual to you… stimming, avoiding eye contact, struggling with transitions, or needing headphones in noisy places, are often ways of coping, communicating, or finding comfort.

A meltdown is not “bad behavior.” A lack of words does not mean a lack of understanding. A quiet child may have a loud inner world, and a child who seems “too much” may just be overwhelmed by things you don’t even notice.

Autism is not a tragedy. The real tragedy is when children are judged, excluded, or misunderstood. If you’re not sure how to respond, choose compassion. A smile instead of a stare. Curiosity instead of assumptions.

Children with autism don’t need pity, they need space to be themselves, and the same chance as any child to be seen, valued, and loved.

Patience, kindness, and acceptance will always
go a long way ♥️
