Welcome to the East Café! ☕💛

As part of our recreation therapy programming, our Service Squad hosted a pop-up iced coffee bar for staff in the east wing—serving up drinks, snacks, and plenty of smiles. Behind the scenes, this hands-on experience helped build important life skills like conversation and social confidence, executive functioning, organization, and money management.

From taking orders to handling payments, every interaction was a chance to practice independence, teamwork, and real-world skills.

Sunny visits an art studio! 🎨🦦

Our favourite river otter teamed up with a talented local artist to bring some fresh, playful poses to life. From cheering, to reading, to playing outside, Sunny struck all sorts of fun poses — so swipe ➡️ to see them!

This is the first time we’re sharing artwork of Sunny, giving our mascot a whole new way to appear in stories, posts, and programs at Niagara Children’s Centre.

Kristina, an Occupational Therapist at the Children’s Centre, shares how “play with props” can spark connection, joy, and skill-building at home. These are activities that need you — your help, your interaction, your energy. And that’s the magic. Unlike toys that compete for attention, prop play brings the focus back to shared moments.

Today, we honour warriors like Eden 💜

Eden from Port Colborne lives with Coffin-Siris Syndrome (ARID1A) — a rare diagnosis with only about 500 people on the registry worldwide. Her journey has included a G-tube, weakened motility, and countless medical appointments.

And yet, through it all, Eden remains incredibly resilient. She smiles. She loves. She brings joy to everyone around her.

Behind every rare diagnosis is a remarkable child and a story of courage the world deserves to see.

Emilia is finding her voice! 💜

Three-year-old Emilia from Niagara Falls was diagnosed with Prader–Willi syndrome shortly after birth. Since then, she has been supported by a caring team at the Children’s Centre through speech, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy. Recently, she’s made incredible progress — her speech is clearer and more confident, she’s having conversations with new people, dressing herself with pride, and walking up and down the stairs with growing strength and independence.

Prader–Willi syndrome is only one small part of who Emilia is — she is smart, determined, and unstoppable.

We're grateful for the longtime support from the Rotary Club of Welland!

The Rotary Club of Welland held its 8th annual Curling Social on February 10 hosted by the Welland Curling Club. We had 68 Rotarians, family, and friends attend, with a complement of 56 curlers on 14 teams.
