A gentler holiday season starts with intention.

Ask yourself: What truly matters to me this year?
What can I simplify, let go of, or do differently?

Choosing actions that align with your values — not expectations — can make the season feel calmer, slower, and more meaningful. ✨

Boundaries are the limits we set to protect our energy, needs, and wellbeing.

Examples might sound like:
“I’d love to join, but only for an hour.”
“I can’t help with that this year, but thank you for thinking of me.”

Saying yes to what aligns and no when you need rest is an act of self-care!

Holiday stress can build fast — grounding can help slow things down. Take 30 seconds and tune into your senses:

✨ the smell of pine
✨ the sound of music or laughter
✨ a warm mug in your hands
✨ the glow of twinkle lights

A moment of sensory awareness can gently reduce stress and bring you back into your body

A Calm place

A coping skill to help calm and regulate is to image yourself in a calm place. It can be a real or imagined.

Imagine what you can see, hear, touch and smell there. Practice going to your calm place frequently and it will be easier to use when you need it. A good time to practice is while you are falling asleep. Calm Tides counselling is here to help if you are struggling, reach out to learn more.
