Valhalla Visions Counselling Clinic

Valhalla Visions Counselling Clinic Mental Health Clinic I also strive to help newcomers to therapy feel comfortable by taking away apprehensions about the profession.

I'm a Newfoundlander/Acadian, trauma-informed clinician who delivers a coffee chat flare in an enriching environment so you feel like you're literally at home. Passionate about serving military veterans, first responders, various front-line medical and educational professionals, youth, and those involved with or experiencing interpersonal violence. I am also open to working with clients who have non traditional spiritual beliefs, and work with select couples who want to work as a team with me.

After much consideration, collaboration with esteemed business owners and colleagues I am not considering to expand until at least 2026.

Due to the specific demographics of my clientele, volunteered and co-lead research involvement within Parliament advocating for Canadian military veterans, project(s) with McGill University, and the national level advocacy, initiatives and reputation I've invested in building for over a decade, only those with consistently proven backgrounds and credibility would be considered. This is to demonstrate and distinguish the seriousness involved, and requirements needed to be upheld.

Interested clinical therapist candidates will have a minimum of a master's degree along with sufficient and extensive work experience. A strict screening procedure for a six month duration will be required without exception.

Thank you.

Valhalla Visions Counselling Clinic When window shopping for counselling therapy, I always encourage individuals to do their homework. Be careful about education levels, qualifications, continuing education claims, licensing and insurance spectrums. Reduced rates or deals from clinics and organizations mean nothing if the training is not sufficient for certain demographics.

Counsellors or mental health professionals working with grief, addiction and/or trauma should be underscoring themselves with a display of strong maturity. This is beyond what they may claim; behavior and personal conduct is the evidence.

Trauma is also not an area to be under trained in or lightly informed about to 'skirt' the bare minimum. If your clinician(s) is/are not patient, you have grounds to not work with them.

Misrepresentation or misleading advertising is unethical behavior and the opposite of clean, clinical care practices. Flippant behavior is and should be acknowledged as the colour party in a parade filled with red flags. Keep tabs during an inspection of the parade and dismiss.

You can 'interview' potential therapists. Ask them questions. You are allowed to make informed decisions for your care.

Random workshops especially ones that are facilitating outdated and pathological models of mental health can cause harm. Six hour courses do not make a clinician an expert on a topic. Mental health first aid does not entitle someone to work with complex trauma.

Clinicians should be clear about their education and training to clientele and the public, because when holding a license it's also a requirement to be honest in advertising. Consequences can be severe. Liabilities and grounds for lawsuits are and can be very real.

I still do not call myself an expert and likely never will. I do however enjoy continuous learning and advancing my career. I likewise enjoy open conversations with my clients and others.

Cheers ☕️

Standing firm to recognize the efforts of those advocating for over a decade to have HST removed from mental health services, Valhalla Visions Counselling Clinic will be honoring invoice changes to the hourly rate and not keep the same total when taxes were charged. VVCC does not believe in pocketing more or the same as before. Changes will be reflective once I debrief with current clients more and figure out procedural flows with newcomers. Please be aware not every clinic or practitioner may be following these changes.

Some more information regarding Valhalla Visions Counselling Clinic:

Valhalla Visions Counselling Clinic opened in memoire of David Lorne Culley (2018) who served with the Saint John Police Force for over 30 years. The clinic understands that communities work in a circle, and serves objective counselling therapy to military veterans, the RCMP, first responders and law enforcement, health care and educational professionals, domestic and interpersonal violence survivors, and likewise those who’ve perhaps become in conflict with the justice system. It also focalizes a well-rounded approach to model cooperation toward a sense of healing for both sides of the law. Moreover, highly trained, self-reflective, and composed professionals have proven to be good role models and mentors for those who’ve not otherwise had them; giving structure, guidance and a sense of purpose can instill confidence in their abilities to live productive lives as active members of society. Mr. Culley had established a reputation for helping those struggling inside and outside of his profession, including fostering animals, youth, and adults alike. Valhalla Visions Counselling Clinic embraces his qualities to bring forth a sense of soulful medicinal as such.
