🍂 Autumn plant medicine calls on roots, barks & seeds.

🌲 In the fall/winter, leaves fall back, and plants’ energy descends to the roots. Naturally, our bodies follow nature’s rhythm & the colds, flus, digestive issues that accompany the season are best supported by root-based medicines. 🤧

🫚 Roots, barks, seeds, & berries need more time & heat to release their medicine. So we prepare them as a decoction on the stove. 🔥

Be sure if you’re adding any flowers or leaves to only add them after the decoction once removed from heat. Otherwise, the volatile oils from the infusion will be lost in the boiling. 🌹

SHADOW SPELL BLEND
aka the base of my Licorice Hex mocktail 🖤

Decoction:
🫐 elderberry ≈ 2 tsp
🌱 fennel seed ≈ 1 tbsp (lightly crushed)
⭐️ star anise pod ≈ 3 pods
🍊 dried orange peel ≈ 1 tbsp
🫖 3 cups boiling water

Optional infusion or decoction:
🌿 licorice root ≈ 2 tsp

🍸 For a mocktail, I’d recommend
adding to your decoction for a stronger flavour & deeper immune-supportive energetics.

💧 For more cooling, moistening energetics, try an infusion for dry coughs, stress, & digestive irritation. 🧝🏼‍♀️

The mountains are calling a gal home! 🏔

Beginning mid August I will once again be offering online herbalist consultations. 🌿

You can expect our initial consultation to last between 60-90 minutes. The intention for this time is to gather an in-depth understanding of your current medical condition and past medical history. The end goal is a personalized herbal treatment protocol to guide your body back to optimal health. 🙏🏼

I am looking to take on 2 patients at an investment of $65 per consult. Should you choose to fill any herbal supports (tea, tincture, salve) that are part of the protocol, they will come at further cost. Totally up to you what you choose to fill! No pressure at all. 🙅🏼‍♀️

Aspirin is quite literally named after the old botanical name for meadowsweet, Spiraea ulmaria. 🌿

The salicylates, aka the aspirin-like substances, which are found in this herb are used to reduce inflammation and relieve pain. While aspirin may cause gastric ulceration at higher doses, meadowsweet’s combination of salicylates and tannins act to protect the lining of the stomach and intestines. 🤯
