DO YOU HAVE EXPIRED OR UNUSED MEDICATION AT HOME?
BRING IT ALL TO SUNSET PHARMACY FOR SAFE DISPOSAL!

Throwing medication away in your trash is not a good idea. Many animals - wild AND domestic - like to forage and eat things that they find in garbage and landfills.

Flushing your medication down the toilet is also not great as they contaminate our water supply because sewage treatment facilities aren't able to process the medication. In 2021, Canadian researchers found pharmaceuticals in water samples, and Health Canada reported increasing pharmaceutical contaminants in groundwater, drinking water, and food sources!

As part of the Ontario Medications Return Program, we will dispose of your medications in a safe, confidential, and free manner!

OUR PHARMACISTS CAN PRESCRIBE FOR LYME DISEASE PREVENTION
AFTER A TICK BITE
With the weather starting to warm up, it's important that you know how to protect yourself from tick bites and Lyme disease.

Some tips for prevention:
- Use a DEET or Icaridin based bug spray (always follow label directions)
- Wear closed-toe shoes
- Wear light coloured long-sleeved shirts and long pants
- Tuck your shirt into your pants, and pull your socks over your pant legs.
- Walk on cleared paths or walkways

Always check after being outdoors!
- Do a full body tick check on yourself, paying special attention to any folds or crevices
- Don’t forget to also check your children, your pets and your gear
- Shower or bathe as soon as possible to wash off any ticks

If you find a tick, don't worry! If the tick has not bitten you, you can easily brush or wash them off.

If the tick HAS bitten you:
1. Use a clean pair of tweezers to grab the tick’s head as close to your body as possible. Slowly pull the tick straight out. Do not twist or squeeze the tick.
2. Wash the bite area with soap and water
3. Contact our pharmacy to see if you would be eligible for Lyme disease prevention medication
