Novus Rehab

Novus Rehab Novus Rehab is there for you following your motor vehicle accident to help you access the services you need for your recovery.

Novus Rehab is a team of experienced health care professionals who provide rehabilitation services to our clientele following injury or illness; most often this work occurs after a motor vehicle accident. Legislative changes in automobile insurance policies often make it difficult for people to understand and manoeuvre the system. Our caring staff will provide assistance at all levels so that you

receive the treatment that you need and can focus on getting better. We collaborate with your insurance company, legal representative, workplace/school and treating practitioners to ensure that you and your family are fully supported. In most cases, your treatment is fully funded by your automobile insurance. Our clinical staff work across Southwestern and Central Ontario, essentially from the Toronto area to Sarnia/Windsor and north to Owen Sound.

Clinical Excellence | Human Focus — In Action

Listening to clients is essential. Studying their experiences is how we create meaningful change.

A current study through Sheridan College is examining the lived experiences of individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents — with a separate questionnaire for clinicians as well. The research explores how clients navigate the medical, legal, administrative, and insurance systems — the structures that shape rehabilitation journeys long before and long after clinical treatment begins.

Too often, these system challenges are discussed anecdotally. Research allows those experiences to be documented, analyzed, and elevated into credible evidence — a critical step in informing insurance regulators, funders, and system improvements.
In our pursuit of Clinical Excellence | Human Focus, we encourage everyone involved in the MVA system to participate in the research survey (just 10 minutes). There is one survey for clients and one for treatment providers — your perspective matters. Please share!

Clinical Excellence | Human Focus - In Action

In our last post, we highlighted the 6-week Intensive course at Western University for Occupational Therapy students that Cheryl Heard recently completed teaching.

During one of those lectures, Jensen Dundas shared her perspective as a newer clinician who transitioned a few years ago directly from graduation into our private practice within MVA and LTD rehabilitation. She offered students an honest look at early-career growth, the essential role of mentorship, and the process of building confidence in real-world settings.

In another lecture, a former client returned to share their lived experience of recovery, grounding clinical education in the human realities behind assessment reports and treatment plans.

Together, these moments reflect what we believe:
Excellence is strengthened through teaching.
Confidence is built through mentorship.
Care is elevated when client voices remain central.

Advancing rehabilitation isn’t limited to what happens in our treatment spaces.
It includes investing in clinicians — and listening to the people we serve.

Clinical Excellence | Human Focus - In Action

We’re proud to share that our leader, Cheryl Heard, has been teaching a 6-week Intensive course at Western University - OT in the MVA sector.

Contributing to the education of future occupational therapists allows us to bring real-world clinical insight into the classroom — and carry fresh perspectives back into our practice.

Advancing care isn’t just about what happens in the clinic.
It’s about investing in the next generation of clinicians who will shape the future of patient-centered rehabilitation.

Excellence in practice.
Excellence in teaching.

Members of our Novus Rehab team recently participated in a 1.5-hour webinar, The Art & Evidence of Attendant Care Assessments: Defensibility, Discrepancy, and the OT Scope, presented by the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto.

This session deepened our understanding of evidence-based attendant care assessments, professional scope, and defensibility—helping ensure our recommendations are thorough, clinically sound, and aligned with current best practices.

Ongoing learning like this supports the high standard of care and clinical excellence we strive to provide.

Clinical Excellence | Human Focus

This is more than just a tagline for us—it’s how we show up every day.
Providing excellent care goes far beyond the time we spend face-to-face with our clients.

Behind the scenes, our team is constantly staying up to date with the latest research and best-practice guidelines, expanding our skill sets through ongoing education, and sharing our knowledge with the next generation of clinicians.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be highlighting what that commitment to clinical excellence looks like in action. We’re excited to take you along.
