Rotator Cuff Impingement Syndrome
Living with shoulder pain can be exhausting.
Especially when simple movements trigger sharp, stabbing, or shooting pain that travels through your shoulder, neck, or even down into your fingertips.
If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and you’re not broken.
Many people are told they have “rotator cuff impingement” without ever being shown why it’s happening or what they can actually do about it.
One common contributor is something called altered scapulohumeral rhythm—basically, how your shoulder blade and arm move together. When that timing is off, sensitive tissues in the shoulder can get irritated over and over again.
This isn’t caused by just one thing. Shoulder pain often develops from a combination of factors, such as:
✔️A slumped or stiff mid-back (thoracic kyphosis)
✔️Tight chest muscles
✔️Forward head posture
✔️Poor shoulder blade control or winging
✔️Weakness in stabilizing muscles-serratus anterior or teres minor
✔️Muscles firing at the wrong time—or not at all
That’s a lot to take in. And it’s normal to feel overwhelmed or frustrated—especially if you’ve already tried rest, injections, or treatments that only helped temporarily.
The encouraging part?
Many of these factors are modifiable with the right approach—through targeted movement, posture awareness, and proper muscle activation over time.
If you’re tired of chasing short-term relief and want to understand what your shoulder needs to move with less pain, there are options.
