Interval Walking Technique or 10,000 steps
The Interval Walking Technique (IWT) which alternates fast and slow walking for a total of 30 minutes was created by exercise physiologist Dr. Hiroshi Nose from the Shinshu University Graduate School of Medicine in Japan. The technique begins with a warm-up walk, and then moves into 3 minutes of a brisk walk followed by 3 minutes of a slower walk, repeated 5 times for a 30-minute training session. The workout is completed with a cool-down walk. This technique has prompted a comparison to the popular goal of attaining 10,000 steps/day. The benefits of the IWT technique include: effective use of 30 minutes, low start-up costs (i.e. comfortable shoes), supports cardiovascular conditioning, improves blood pressure, regulates blood sugars, improves mood and boosts the immune system.1 Source:1 https://www.hindustantimes.com/htcity/wellness/japanese-walk
