We are proud to announce an important enhancement to local maternity and neonatal care. Starting this week, pregnant women in Elgin County at 32 weeks gestation or later can now deliver at STEGH, eliminating the need for many families to travel outside of the city. With over 30 years of leadership and clinical experience in healthcare, Heather brings expertise in strategic planning, quality and safety, nursing education, and more. Her impressive career includes leadership roles at St. Joseph’s Health Care London, London Health Sciences Centre, and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women.

Heather’s dedication to healthcare extends beyond her professional work - she’s a published author, frequent national speaker, and active volunteer and board member. At almost 91 years young, Joanne continues to be an incredible part of the STEGH team. Yesterday, after finishing all the laundry for our neonatal intensive care unit, she paused for a quick photo - with her trademark smile, of course.

Joanne has been a dedicated volunteer for many years, and we’re so grateful for the joy and kindness she brings to every shift.

This week, we’re highlighting the amazing teams behind Payroll, Scheduling and Staffing. These departments play a critical role in keeping our hospital running smoothly - even as they manage growing volumes of new hires, transfers, sick calls, and staffing shortages.

Every day, these teams help make life easier for our 1,100+ staff by creating workable schedules, finding coverage when someone calls in sick, and ensuring everyone is paid accurately and on time. Simply put, STEGH would not function without their dedication and expertise.

Thank you to every member of the Staffing, Scheduling and Payroll teams for the incredible work you do behind the scenes.

Today, we celebrate our amazing technical and digital health teams who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our hospital, community, and systems running smoothly and securely - 24/7, 365 days a year.

From managing complex technologies and integrated systems, to implementing advanced digital health tools and tackling cybersecurity threats, their work often goes unnoticed, but it makes all the difference for staff and patients.

Did you know? Every month, our IT team blocks over 150,000 cyber threats and responds to several alerts from the Canadian Centre for Cybersecurity, keeping our hospital safe and secure.

Thank you to our Digital Health Team for leading innovation and security in our region!
