It’s been snowing non-stop today. We love our community and want everyone staying safe and out of the Emergency Department if possible.

A few quick reminders:
• Dress in warm layers, stay dry, and pace yourself when shoveling
• Cover exposed skin and take breaks to prevent frostbite and hypothermia
• Make sure your home heating and carbon monoxide detectors are working
• If you must travel, slow down and keep an emergency kit in your vehicle

A Cardinal Christmas Lives On. During our Holiday Door Decorating Contest, our Materials Management team created a beautiful display called A Cardinal Christmas, inviting staff, patients, and visitors to place a cardinal on the tree in memory of someone special. The tree has now been moved to the Multi-Faith Space so it can be enjoyed into the new year. If you’re in the hospital, feel free to stop by and take a look.

Monday, January 5 @ 4:30 pm: We’re expecting higher-than-usual demand across the hospital. Many patients who require admission are waiting for inpatient beds As a result, they are waiting in an Emergency Department (ED) bed until a bed becomes available on the unit. This limits space in the ED and can result in longer wait times.

Our teams are working hard to provide safe, timely care to everyone who comes through our doors. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Welcome, Lincoln! We’re excited to share that Lincoln is the first baby of the New Year at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital!

Lincoln arrived on January 1 at 11:57 p.m., weighing 7 lbs. 9 oz. Proud parents Isla and Tanner, from London, are doing well and soaking up these first special moments together.

A wonderful way to ring in the New Year. Congratulations to the family and welcome to the world, Lincoln! 💙

As we welcome the new year, we’re taking a moment to look back on what we accomplished together in 2025. From important milestones to meaningful improvements in care, this past year reflects the dedication, teamwork, and heart of our staff, physicians, and volunteers.
