The escalation of the armed conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has displaced more than 7.3 million people, placing unprecedented pressure on local health facilities.
With the support of Unifor Canada SFJ, ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ง๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ (๐๐๐๐) and HEAL Africa are responding through the ๐๐๐ฉ ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฬ - ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ญ. This initiative aims to improve working conditions for midwives, nurses, and other healthcare workers at ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ฅ in Goma, by strengthening the capacity of 100 frontline workers.
By providing essential resources, training, and supporting initiatives that strengthen protection and wellbeing, the project empowers them to effectively respond to emergency crises.
Training sessions on Emergency Obstetric & Newborn Care and infection prevention & control have already equipped practitioners to manage obstetric emergencies, perform neonatal resuscitation, and contain epidemic risks in a city facing conflict, displacement, and recurring outbreaks.
