This study followed 263,871 chronic low back pain patients between 1997-2018. They looked at whether there was a correlation between exercise & a reduction in low back pain as current guidelines are not clear on this.

Researchers concluded that 75mins of aerobic active combined with 2-5 resistance training sessions worked best for MIDDLE-AGED & OLDER ADULTS. This is specific for these populations.

My advice would be to work towards being more active, increase your walking & exercise steps (not steps per day - walking to kitchen doesn't count). Try to add in some resistance training twice per week.

This will help reduce age related changes in your bones & joints, keep your heart healthy, weight manageable, prevent mental health decline & manage systemic inflammation.

👉He understood that the better we can move correlates with the more activities we can do. Not being able to bend, twist or extend reduces our circle of activities.
How many times have you heard a 30-something say "my back feels like a 90-year old?"

👉You can look after your spine & keep it young by

✅ Exercising regularly as this will oil your joints & keep them young.
✅ Try some gentle yoga. This practice will get you moving in ways different from your normal day to day movements. The body uses it or loses it!
✅ Try some Pilates or core strength work as there's a correlation between stability and good movement and mobility.
✅ General weight training will help strengthen your bones and joints and keep the dreaded sarcopenia away.
