☀️ Still enjoying bringing in new learning from summer continuing education in trauma counselling and post-trauma recovery and all of this delivered in the amazing outdoor nature-based “office” at our farm-based program.

☀️ RAD, ODD, relational trauma, aggression directed at adult care providers: ADOPTIVE parents may not be fully prepared for the intense unconscious reactions a child may have when in foster, adoptive or guardianship care. Tammy at TCC is experienced at supporting families in fostering, adoption and complex family systems AND keeping the whole child (not just the diagnoses) as the focus of compassionate counselling treatment ♥️

🤗 The beautiful big timber ranch gate at the counselling program entry 🌲 Many people comment on how private, peaceful and welcoming the counselling area is: it’s designed for play therapy, equine-assisted and eco therapy and the counselling cabin is nestled in trees, beside nature trails and horse corrals, at the far end! Destination counselling on Larch Hills.

SANDTRAY therapy helps all children but especially those with complex trauma play out themes without becoming re-traumatized and overwhelmed 🌿 At TCC, children benefit from SANDTRAY, Playful EMDR, AND equine-assisted counselling all based in a beautiful eco-therapy setting 🌿

☀️ Meet Paddington, the golden pony: Paddy is a purebred Welsh Cob who loves attention, having a job and he’s loyal and focussed on each task. Youth especially enjoy Paddy-time in equine-assisted counselling sessions because he’s a bit bigger, walks a bit faster and notices more than our mini ponies 🌿

☀️ Thanks to husband John and JET Lumber for bringing over skidsteer bucket loads of fresh sawdust from the sawmill for the horses. In the farm lane, that’s fully fenced, the horses have their round bale feeder, shade, a loafing area on the thick, fresh sawdust and free access to their main big paddock and the counselling program area 🤗 Horse care and comfort is essential for the riding and therapy horses: vet care, daily and seasonal nutrition, dental and hoof care, field/paddock and farm maintenance. 🌿

💕 Each of the horses we have for equine-assisted counselling have been chosen especially for this special role: they are calm, gentle, personable and kind and each has a unique personality!
